What is Micatin?

Micatin acts as an antifungal. Micatin is an antifungal medication. Micatin is used for skin infections, such as athletes foot jock itch, ringworm, tinea versicolor, and yeast infections. This medication guide does not list all possible uses for mica.

Side effects of Micatin

Micatin can cause severe side effects. If you experience:

Micatin can cause the following side effects:

  • Peeling skin, itching, or dry skin.

Before you take this drug

Micatin should be avoided if you have an allergy to micronazole. If you are suffering from any other health conditions or symptoms, you should consult your doctor before using this medication.

Micatin is not proven to harm unborn babies. If you're pregnant, consult your doctor before taking this medication. The miconazole topically does not pass into the breast milk. It is also unknown if this could cause harm to a baby who was nursing. If you're breastfeeding a child, do not take this medication without consulting your doctor.

How to take Micatin?

Do not exceed the recommended dosage or duration. Use the recommended dose and do not exceed it.Take it only as directed. Micatin should only be used on the skin. This medicine should not be used on wounds that are open.Micatin should not be used in the vagina or rectum.You should wash your hands both before and after you use this medicine, unless it is to treat a condition of your skin on your hand.Apply the cream, lotion, spray, or powder as directed. Use the lotion, cream, spray, or powder as directed, twice daily, for two to four weeks.Cover the skin only if your doctor says so. To protect your clothing, you can use a light cotton-gauze bandage.As directed, take this medication until all symptoms have subsided or it may increase your risk of a second infection resistant to antifungal medication if doses are missed.If the infection doesn't clear in two weeks (or four weeks for athletes feet) or appears to be getting worse, call your doctor. Keep the tube at room temperature, away from heat and moisture. When not in use, keep the tube closed tightly.

What happens if I miss the dose?

As soon as possible, apply the missed dose. If your next dose is approaching quickly, take note of a missed one and skip it altogether. You should not take extra medication to compensate for a missed dose.

What should be avoided?

Do not get this medicine in your nose, eyes, or mouth. Wear loose-fitting cotton or other natural fiber clothing if the infection has not healed completely. If this does not provide relief, switch to loose fitting clothing made of natural materials.

Interaction with other drug

Miconazole applied topically is unlikely to be affected by other medications you may take orally or those that are injected. Many drugs interact. Inform your healthcare providers of all the medicines that you take, including any prescription or over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
