What is M-End PE?

Brompheniramine reduces the effects that histamine has on the body. Histamine may cause symptoms such as sneezing, itching, and watery eyes. Codeine has narcotic properties. Cough suppressant. It alters brain signals that cause cough reflexes. Phenylephrine shrinks the blood vessels of the nasal passages. Dilated blood vessels can cause congestion in the nasal passages. M-End is a combination medication used to treat symptoms such as runny or stuffy nasal passages, sneezing and itching, watery eyes, cough, and sinus congestion due to allergies, the cold, or the flu. M-End PE does not treat coughs caused by smoke or asthma. This medication guide does not list all possible uses for M-End.

Side effects of M-End PE

If you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction: difficulty breathing, hives or facial, lip or throat swelling. Seek immediate medical help! Codeine, like other narcotics, can cause breathing problems. If breathing becomes weak, death may result. If you have blue lips or slow breathing with long pauses in between, someone caring for you needs to seek immediate medical attention.

If you experience:

  • Sighing and noisy breathing are both examples of shallow breathing.
  • a low heart rate, or a weak pulse.
  • nervousness, trouble sleeping;
  • Constipation is severe.
  • little or no urination.

The risk of serious side effects is higher in older adults, especially those who are obese or malnourished.

M-End PE can cause the following side effects:

  • drowsiness;
  • Feeling restless or excited, especially in children

Warnings

Codeine may cause you to stop breathing or slow down. It can also become habit-forming. M-End PE USED IN A WRONG WAY CAN CAUSE ADDICTION OR DEATH. This is especially true for children or anyone who uses the medication without a prescription. Do not use this medicine if you are under 18 years old.

Before you take this drug

This medicine should not be used if you have an allergy to codeine or phenylephrine. You should not take this medication if you've taken an MAO-inhibitor in the last 14 days. Drug interactions can occur. MAO inhibitors are isocarboxazid (linezolid), methylene blue injection, phenelzine, and other drugs. Some people have a rapid breakdown of codeine in their liver, resulting in higher levels than normal in the blood. This can lead to dangerously slow breathing and even death in children. Do not give this medicine to any individual under the age of 18.

Be sure to inform your physician of any of the following to ensure that this medication is appropriate for you:

  • asthma, COPD, or other breathing disorders.
  • A cough that produces mucus
  • heart disease, high blood pressure
  • glaucoma;
  • diabetes;
  • A thyroid disorder
  • Urination and prostate problems

Your baby may develop withdrawal symptoms after birth if you use codeine during pregnancy. A baby's addiction to habit-forming drugs may require medical care for several weeks. Inform your doctor immediately if you are pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant, or planning on becoming pregnant in any capacity.Do not breastfeed. Codine can pass through breast milk, causing drowsiness or breathing problems in nursing babies. Brompheniramine can slow down breast milk production.

How to take M-End PE?

Antihistamines should not be used to put a child to sleep. Use the provided dosing syringe or a dose-measuring cup or spoon to measure liquid medicines. onsult your pharmacist if you don't already possess a measuring device to administer doses accurately. Do not exceed 7 consecutive days before consulting your physician if symptoms continue beyond this point or you experience both headache and fever symptoms simultaneously. Tell your doctor or surgeon immediately if you have taken cough or cold medication within the last week, even if only for short-term relief.

Keep stored away from moisture or heat at room temperature and in an area free from humidity or temperature extremes. For maximum efficiency, store at a temperature of between 15-18o C to preserve quality of materials used and their integrity during transport and storage. Track your medication. Codeine is an addictive drug. You should be alert if someone is misusing your medicine or using it without a prescription.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Since this medication should only be taken when necessary, your dosing schedule may change over time. Take the missed dose immediately if you take the medication regularly. If your next scheduled dosage is near, skip the missed dose. You should not take more medicine to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Call the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222 or seek emergency medical care. An overdose of codeine can be deadly, especially if it is taken by a child or someone who has not been prescribed the medication.

What should be avoided?

M-End PE can affect your ability to think or react. Do not drive or operate machinery until you are sure how the medicine will affect your body. Dizziness and extreme tiredness may result in accidents or falls. You may experience dangerous side effects, or even death, if you drink alcohol when taking codeine-containing medicines. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any other cold, allergy, or cough medicine. Combination medicines often contain cough suppressants and decongestants. You can take too much medication by taking certain products together.

Interaction with other drug

Before using this medication, ask your doctor or pharmacist if you also use any other medications, such as vitamins and herbal remedies. When used together, some medicines can have unwanted or harmful effects. This medication guide does not list all possible interactions. M-EndPE can have dangerous side effects if taken with other drugs that make you sleepy, slow down your breathing, or cause anxiety. Consult your doctor before using a sleeping pill or narcotic pain medication, prescription cough medicine or muscle relaxers, or medicines for depression or epilepsy.
