What is Lac-Hydrin?

Ammonium lactate is made up of ammonium hydroxide and lactic acid. Ammonium lactate is used as a moisturiser.Use ammonium lactate to treat itchy, dry skin.This medication guide does not list all possible uses for ammonium lactate.

Side effects of Lac-Hydrin

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergy reaction, seek immediate medical attention: Hives, difficulty breathing, swelling in your lips, face, throat, or tongue

Lac-Hydrin can cause severe side effects. If you experience:

  • The application of the medication may cause severe redness and stinging.

Lac-Hydrin can cause the following side effects:

  • After use, mild skin dryness may occur.
  • Discoloration or bruising on treated skin.

Before you take this drug

This medication should not be used if you have an allergy to ammonium, mineral oil, or glycerin.People with fair skin or those who are sensitive to ammonium lactate can be at greater risk of irritation.FDA pregnancy class CThere is no information on whether Lac-Hydrin can harm an unborn child. If you plan to get pregnant or are already pregnant, tell your doctor.It is unknown if the topical ammonium passes through breast milk and if it can harm nursing babies. You should tell your doctor that you are breastfeeding a child.Lac-Hydrin should not be given to children without consulting a doctor.

How to take Lac-Hydrin?

Ammonium lactate is typically applied two times a day. Follow the instructions on the bottle or those prescribed by your physician. Use the recommended dose and do not exceed it.Before using the medication, shake it well before use.You should wash your hands both before and after using this medication, unless it is to treat an infection of the hand.You should not use ammonium lacetate on your face without your doctor's permission.If your symptoms don't improve or worsen while taking Lac-Hydrin, call your doctor.Keep away from heat and moisture. Store at room temperature.

What happens if I miss the dose?

As soon as possible, apply the missed dose. Wait until your next dose to take the medication, and do not use it if you have missed a dose. You should not take extra medication to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Lac-Hydrin is not likely to cause an overdose.

What should be avoided?

Lac-Hydrin is not to be taken orally. Lac-Hydrin should only be applied to the skin. Lac-Hydrin should not be used on wounds, sunburned skin, or chapped or dry skin. Rinse with water if this medicine gets into your eyes, nostrils, mouth, vagina, or rectum.

Interaction with other drug

Ammonium Lactate applied topically is unlikely to be affected by other drugs taken orally, or injected. Many drugs interact. Inform your healthcare providers of all medications you take, including over-the-counter medicines and herbal supplements.
