What is Hylira?

Hylira works in a similar way to the fluid around your joints. This medicine works as a lubricant for the skin, restoring moisture to it and preventing friction.Hylira is used for treating skin ulcers like bed sores, diabetic foot ulcers, and burns. It can also be used to treat surgical incisions or cuts, abrasions, and other irritations. This skin medication can also be used to treat dry skin or scaly patches.Hylira oral gel is used to treat mouth ulcers and other irritations caused by infection, chemotherapy, radiation treatment, or dentistry.Hylira can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Hylira

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek emergency medical attention: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your lips, face, tongue, or throat.

If you notice any new symptoms of a skin infection, such as:

  • redness, warmth;
  • Pain, swelling,
  • Open or oozing sores

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to Hylira, then it is best not to use it.FDA pregnancy class C There is no information on whether Hylira can harm an unborn child. Hylira can cause pregnancy. Tell your doctor immediately if you plan to get pregnant.It is unknown if sodium hyaluronate topically applied can pass into breast milk or if this could harm a baby who is nursing. You should tell your doctor if a child is breastfed.

How to take Hylira?

Do not alter the instructions on your prescription. Use this medication only as directed.Do not exceed the prescribed dosage or extend use. This medicine should not be shared with anyone else, even if the other person has similar symptoms.

Use sodium hyaluronate as a skin moisturizer.

  • Hylira gel, cream, film, or spray should be applied after cleansing and disinfecting the area.
  • Use enough medication to completely cover the affected area or the wound.
  • Use a thin layer on the affected area of an open wound. Rub the skin as lightly as possible.
  • Use a sterile finger cot or rubber glove to apply Hylira.
  • Cover the treated area of skin with sterile gauze pads or any other dressing prescribed by your doctor.
  • Hylira is applied to the skin 2 or 3 times a day. Please follow your doctor's advice.

Hylira Oral Gel:

  • Open the gel package and pour all the contents into a glass. Stir the mixture well after adding 1 or 2 teaspoons of water.
  • You can use the gel undiluted if you don't have any water on hand.
  • Rinse thoroughly in your mouth by gurgling and swishing the mixture for at least one minute.
  • Before spitting out the medicine, make sure that your teeth, gums, tongue, and cheeks have been well coated.
  • After using the oral gel, avoid eating or drinking for at least one hour.
  • Hylira oral gel may be used three times per day. Please follow your doctor's advice.

If your symptoms don't improve or worsen, or if you experience new symptoms, stop using the medicine and contact your doctor.Store away from moisture or heat at room temperature. When not in use, keep the tube tightly closed. Oral gels should not be opened until they are needed.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Hylira is applied as needed, and there may not be a schedule of dosage. Use the missed dose immediately if you use the medication regularly. If your next scheduled dosage is near, skip the missed dose. You should not take extra medicine to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention.

What should be avoided?

Hylira should not be applied to the lips or mouth. If you do, wash your mouth with water. Use only the oral gel version of sodium hyaluronate in the mouth.If you accidentally get this medication in your eyes, wash them with water.Avoid using wound disinfectants that contain quaternary ammonium. Only use the wound disinfection method that your doctor has prescribed.

Interaction with other drug

Hylira is unlikely to interact with other drugs that you may take orally or by injection. Many drugs interact with each other. Inform your healthcare providers of all the medicines you take, including vitamins and herbal remedies.
