What is Hemady?

There are several brands and forms of dexamethasone available. This leaflet does not list all brands.Hemady, a steroid, prevents substances from being released in the body that cause inflammation.Hemady can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including allergic disorders, skin disorders, ulcerative colitis, and arthritis. It is also effective in treating lupus or psoriasis.Hemady can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Hemady

If you exhibit symptoms of an allergic reaction, such as hives, difficulty breathing or swelling of lips, face, tongue or throat - seek medical assistance immediately.

Hemady can cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Feeling of muscle weakness or tightness;
  • Blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain or seeing halos around lights may indicate impaired eyesight or symptoms of inflammation in the retina.
  • Rapid weight gain, swelling, and shortness of breath even with mild exercise;
  • Severe depression; unusual thoughts or behaviors
  • A seizure (convulsions);
  • Bloody or tarry stool, coughing blood
  • Fast or slow heartbeat;
  • Pancreatitis: severe pain spreading from your upper stomach to your back. Nausea, and vomiting.
  • Low sodium level: leg cramps, constipation, irregular heartbeats, increased thirst, tingling, or numbness;
  • Increased blood pressure; severe headache; blurred vision; pounding in the neck or ears Anxiety. Nosebleed.

Hemady can affect the growth of children. If your child's growth isn't normal while taking Hemady, tell your doctor.

Hemady side effects may include:

  • Fluid retention (swelling of the hands or ankles)
  • Increased appetite
  • Mood changes, trouble sleeping;
  • Skin rash;
  • Acne is characterized by increased sweating and increased hair growth.
  • Headache, dizziness;
  • Nausea, vomiting, upset stomach;
  • Changes in your menstrual cycle;
  • Changes in the shape or location (especially of your arms, legs, and breasts), as well as changes in your body fat.

Warnings

This medicine should not be used if you are suffering from a fungus in any part of your body.Inform your doctor of all medical conditions and medications you use. Steroids can affect many diseases, and other medications can also interact with them.

Before you take this drug

Hemady should not be used if:

  • A fungal infection can occur anywhere on your body.

Inform your physician of any of the following issues:

  • Liver disease, such as cirrhosis.
  • Kidney disease
  • A thyroid disorder
  • Malaria;
  • Tuberculosis;
  • Osteoporosis;
  • A muscle disorder, such as myasthenia gravis.
  • Steroids may cause an increase in glucose in your blood or urine.
  • Glaucoma, or cataracts
  • Herpes infection in the eyes
  • Ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, and inflammation of the bowel
  • Depression or mental illness
  • Congestive heart failure;
  • High blood pressure.

Your immune system is affected by steroids. You could be more susceptible to infections. Steroids may also worsen an existing infection or make it reactivate. Inform your doctor of any illnesses or infections you've had in the last few weeks.Hemady is not known to harm unborn babies. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant.Hemady should not be used while breastfeeding.

How to take Hemady?

Read and follow all instructions or guides that come with your medication, and adhere to them exactly. Depending on how your physician has prescribed the dose for you, taking the medicine exactly as instructed could change over time; you must take all medications exactly as they have been directed by them.You may need to adjust your dose due to surgery or other medical emergencies. Inform your doctor of any situation that may affect you.Hemady can interfere with certain medical tests. Hemady is a prescription medication. Notify your doctor immediately if you begin receiving medical treatment.You may experience unpleasant withdrawal symptoms if you suddenly stop taking Hemady. You should ask your doctor about how to safely discontinue this medication.Wear or carry medical identification in case of an emergency to let others know that you are using Hemady.Store items away from heat and moisture at room temperature.

What happens if I miss the dose?

If you missed a Hemady dose, call your doctor to get instructions.

What happens if I overdose?

Reach out for help quickly should a poison appear, by dialing 1-800-222-1222 for poison-related assistance or seeking medical attention immediately.Overdoses of dexamethasone are unlikely to cause life-threatening symptoms. High doses of dexamethasone can cause thinning of the skin, bruising easily, changes in body weight (especially on your face, neck, and back), acne or facial hair growth, menstrual issues, Impotence or decreased sexual interest.

What should be avoided?

Avoid being around people who are sick. If you have been exposed to chickenpox or measles, call your doctor immediately for preventive treatment. These conditions are serious and can even be fatal for people taking steroid medication.Hemady can cause alcohol to interact with the medication.Avoid receiving a "live vaccine" while taking Hemady. The vaccine might not work well, and you may not be fully protected from disease during this period. Live vaccines are available for measles (chickenpox), mumps (MMR), rubella, rotavirus (typhoid), typhoid (yellow fever), varicella, and zoster.

Interaction with other drug

There may be instances when taking certain medications together is unsafe. Some drugs may affect the blood levels of drugs that you are taking, causing side effects or making them less effective.

Inform your doctor of all of the medications you are currently taking.. Hemady can be affected by many drugs, including:

  • Antifungal or antibacterial medicine
  • Hormonal replacement therapy or birth control pills
  • Insulin, or diabetes medications taken by mouth
  • Medicine to treat Alzheimer's disease, or Parkinson’s disease
  • A blood thinner: warfarin Coumadin Jantoven
  • Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Diclofenac, and Indomethacin are all nsaids.
