What is Glycerin petroleum phenylephrine and pramoxine topical?

A combination medicine that contains glycerin, petrolatum, phenylephrine, and pramoxine is used to treat hemorrhoids. It relieves pain, swelling, inflammation, burning, and itching.This medication guide does not list all possible uses for phenylephrine topical, pramoxine, petrolatum, or glycerin.

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergy: difficulty breathing, hives, swelling in your lips, face, throat, or tongue

The side effects of this medicine can be serious. If you experience:

  • Severe irritation in or around the rectum
  • Rectal pain, redness, swelling,
  • Any new or worse haemorrhoids symptoms

Before you take this drug

If you've ever:

  • High blood pressure
  • Urination or prostate problems;
  • Diabetes
  • A thyroid condition.

Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you're pregnant or nursing.This medicine should not be given to children younger than 12 without consulting a doctor.

How to take Glycerine petroleum phenylephrine and promoxine topical?

Read all the instructions or guides that come with your medication and follow all the directions. Follow the directions on your prescription label.This medicine should not be taken by mouth. The skin surrounding your rectum is the only place to apply this medicine. If this medication gets into your mouth or eyes, rinse with water.This medication should be taken up to four times each day.Only apply the medication to the outer skin of the rectum. This medicine should not be injected into your rectum.Please read and heed all directions included with your medication before beginning to take it.If you don't understand the instructions, ask your pharmacist or doctor.If your symptoms don't improve within 7 days or worsen, call your doctor.Keep away from heat and moisture. Store at room temperature.

What happens if I miss the dose?

You may not have a schedule for your doses, as glycerin and petrolatum are used only when necessary. If it is almost time to take your next dose, skip any missed doses. Use no more than four times per day.

What happens if I overdose?

Overdoses of this medication are not considered dangerous. If anyone accidentally swallows the medicine, seek emergency medical care or contact the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222.

What should be avoided?

If your doctor prescribes any restrictions on foods, drinks, or activities, follow their instructions.

Interaction with other drug

Before using any topical glycerin or petrolatum with other medicines, such as:

  • Antidepressants are a type of medication.
  • A bronchodilator medication for COPD or asthma;
  • Ergot medicine: dihydroergotamine, ergotamine, ergonovine, and methylergonovine.
