What is Geneye Extra?

Tetrahydrozoline acts as a vasoconstrictor. The drug works by narrowing the blood vessels around the eye to reduce redness. Geneye (for eyes) provides temporary relief from minor redness, swelling, or drainage of the eye caused by minor irritations. This medication guide does not list all possible uses for Geneye Extra.

Side Effects of Geneye Extra

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergy reaction, seek immediate medical attention: difficulty breathing or swelling in your lips, face, throat, or tongue.

Geneye Extra may cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Eye redness that persists or gets worse
  • Eye pain
  • Changes in your vision
  • Chest pain, rapid or irregular heartbeat;
  • Feeling short of breath, suffering a severe headache, or experiencing buzzing in the ears could all indicate serious medical conditions that require immediate medical treatment.

Geneye Extra can cause the following side effects:

  • Mild burning or stinging in the eyes;
  • Watery eyes and blurry vision
  • Dilated pupils

Warnings

Geneye Extra provides temporary relief from minor irritations that cause minor redness and discomfort in the eyes. If you experience eye irritation, pain, or changes in vision, stop using Geneye and contact your doctor immediately.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to Geneye Extra, it is best not to use this product.

If you are suffering from any other health conditions or symptoms, you should consult your doctor before taking this medication.

  • Glaucoma;
  • Heart disease and high blood pressure.
  • Diabetes;
  • A thyroid condition;
  • An eye injury or infection.

Geneye Extra is not known to cause harm to an unborn child. If you plan to get pregnant or are already pregnant, tell your doctor. There is no way to know if tetrahydrozoline phthalmic can pass into the breast milk or harm nursing babies. You should tell your doctor that you are breastfeeding a child.

How to take Geneye Extra?

Do not exceed the recommended dosage or duration. Use the recommended dose and do not exceed it.

If you use the medicine too much or for too long, it can worsen symptoms and damage the blood vessels of your eye.

Before using eye drops, wash your hands.

How to apply eye drops

  • To create a pocket, tilt your head slightly back and gently pull your lower eyelid down. Droppers must always point downward. Squeeze out the dropper while looking away from it.
  • To prevent liquids from dripping into the tear duct, close your eyes and press gently with your finger on the inner corner of your eye for approximately 1 minute.
  • Only use the recommended number of drops.

Avoid touching the tip or placing it on the eye. If the dropper is contaminated, it can cause serious eye problems. If the liquid is discolored or contains particles, do not use it. Keep away from heat and moisture. Store at room temperature. Store at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep the bottle tightly shut when not being used.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Geneye Extra can be used as needed, and you don't need to follow a schedule. Use the missed dose if you have a regular schedule as soon as possible. If your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose. You should not take extra medication to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Overdoses of tetrahydrozoline ophthalmic are not dangerous. If anyone accidentally swallows the medicine, seek emergency medical care or contact the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222. Geneye Extra should be kept out of the reach of young children. Some eye drops can be harmful to a child if they accidentally swallow or suck on the medicine.

What should be avoided?

Use this medicine only if you are not wearing contact lenses. Geneye Extra contains a preservative that can cause soft contact lenses to discolor. After using the medicine, wait at least 15 minutes before inserting your lenses.

Interaction with other drug

Tetrahydrozoline in the eye is unlikely to interact with other drugs that you may take orally or by injection. Many drugs interact. Inform your health care providers of all the medicines that you take, including prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbs.
