What is Gastrocrom?

Gastrocrom prevents the release of substances that can cause inflammation in the body. Gastrocrom treats the symptoms of mastocytosis. This condition can cause diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headaches, stomach discomfort, itchiness, and flushing. This medication guide does not list all possible uses for Gastrocrom.

Side effects of Gastrocrom

Symptoms of an allergic reaction include hives, difficulty breathing and swelling of lips, face, tongue or throat. Seek medical assistance immediately if these occur.

Gastrocrom can cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • White patches or sores on the lips or inside of your mouth;
  • the swelling of the tongue.
  • Trouble swallowing
  • Tightness in the chest

Side effects of gastrocrom include:

  • Feeling irritable
  • Nausea, diarrhea, and stomach pain;
  • Rash, itching;
  • Muscle pain.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to Gastrocrom, do not use it.

Tell your doctor about any of the following to ensure that you are safe when using Gastrocrom:

  • Kidney disease
  • Liver disease.

Gastrocrom is not known to harm unborn babies. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is unknown if cromolyn salt passes into breastmilk or if it can harm a baby who is nursing. You should tell your doctor if you're breastfeeding a child. Gastrocrom should not be used by children under 2 years of age.

How to take Gastrocrom?

Take Gastrocrom four times daily. Please follow all the instructions on the prescription label. Take this medication only as prescribed. Do not exceed the recommended dosage or extend its usage beyond its intended period. Open the Gastrocrom and squeeze out the liquid in a glass of filtered water. Mix the mixture well, and consume it immediately. Don't save it for later. Take this medication 30 minutes before every meal and before bedtime. To ensure that you have a constant amount of drugs in your system, take your doses regularly. If your symptoms persist after three weeks of treatment, call your doctor. You should not alter your medication or dosage without consulting your doctor. Store away from moisture, heat, and light at room temperature. If the product appears cloudy or has changed color, or if there are particles in it, do not use it. For new medications, call your pharmacist.

What happens if I miss the dose?

As soon as you remember a missed dose, take it immediately.If your next scheduled dosage is approaching, skip the missed dose. You should not take more medicine to compensate for a missed dose.

What should be avoided?

If your doctor prescribes any restrictions regarding food, beverage, or activity, follow their instructions.

Interaction with other drug

Other drugs, such as vitamins and herbal remedies, may interact with cromolyn. Inform your healthcare providers of all the medicines you are taking and those you plan to take.
