What is Fungoid?

Fungoid is an antifungal drug. This medication prevents fungus growth on your skin. Fungoid is used for skin infections like athlete’s foot jock itch, ringworm, tinea veriscolor, and yeast infections. This medication guide does not list all possible uses for Fungoid.

Side effects of Fungoid

If you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction: difficulty breathing, hives or swelling on lips, face, tongue or throat - seek medical assistance immediately!

Fungoid may cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Mild blistering, irritation or reddening of treated skin has resulted in minor reactions; for more severe reactions contact emergency services immediately.

Some of the common side effects associated with Fungoid include:

  • Itch or peeling skin.

Fungoid can cause side effects, even though the risks are low.

  • Sore or dry tongue toothache; red or swollen gingiva;
  • A changed sense of taste
  • Nausea, diarrhea;
  • Headache.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to micronazole, then you should not use Fungoid.

If you have other medical conditions or concerns, or intend on taking medicine of any sort, make sure that it's okay with both your physician and pharmacist before making a decision about its usage.

Fungoid is not known to harm unborn babies. If you are pregnant, do not take this medication without consulting your doctor. There is no way to know if miconazole topical can pass into breast milk or if it will harm a baby who is nursing. If you are breastfeeding a child, do not use this medication without consulting your doctor.

How to take Fungoid?

Do not exceed the recommended dosage or duration. Use the recommended dose and do not exceed it. Take it only as directed. Fungoid should only be applied to the skin. This medicine should not be used for open wounds. Use fungoid only in the vagina and rectum. You should wash your hands both before and after you use this medication, except if your hands are affected by a skin problem. Apply the cream, lotion, spray, or powder as directed. Use the cream, lotion spray, or powder as directed, twice a day, for two to four weeks. Cover the treated area only if your doctor says so. To protect clothing, a light cotton-gauze dressing can be used. Please take this medication exactly as prescribed; symptoms could develop before your virus has completely cleared from your system, increasing the chance that another infection resistant to antifungal treatment occurs if doses are missed or skipped altogether. If the infection doesn't clear up within 2 weeks (or four weeks for an athlete’s foot) or appears to be getting worse, call your doctor. Store away from moisture or heat at room temperature. When not in use, keep the tube tightly sealed.

What happens if I miss the dose?

As soon as you recall, apply the missed dose. If your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose. You should not take extra medicine to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention.

What should be avoided?

Do not get this medication into your eyes, mouth, nose, or other sensitive areas. Avoid wearing synthetic clothing that is too tight or restricts airflow. Wear loose-fitting cotton or other natural fibers to keep the infection at bay.

Interaction with other drug

Miconazole, applied topically, is unlikely to be affected by other drugs taken orally or injected. Many drugs interact with each other. Inform your healthcare providers of all the medicines you take, including vitamins and herbal remedies.
