What is Flunisolide nasal?

Flunisolide, a steroid, is used to treat inflammation. It stops the release of substances that cause inflammation in the body. Flunisolide Nasal (for the nose) is used to treat congestion of the nasal passage and sneezing caused by seasonal allergies or year-round This medication guide does not list all possible uses for Flunisolide Nasal.

Side effects of Flunisolide nasal

If you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction: hives, difficulty breathing or swelling of lips, face, tongue or throat. Seek medical assistance immediately.

Flunisolide nasal may cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Nosebleeds that are severe or persistent
  • Irritation, sores, or white patches on your mouth, nose, or throat.
  • Crust around your nose.
  • Any wound that does not heal
  • Flu symptoms include fever, chills, and weakness.

Flunisolide nasal side effects may include:

  • You may experience a burning or stinging sensation in your nose.
  • Stuffy nose, sneezing, minor nosebleed;
  • Changes in your senses of taste or smell
  • Watery eyes
  • Sore throat.
  • Nausea, vomiting;
  • Headache.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to flunisolide, do not use the nasal flunisolide.

Tell your doctor about any of the following to ensure that flunisolide is safe for you:

  • Untreated infections of the nose or sinuses
  • Asthma;
  • Tuberculosis, or any other illness or infection;
  • Herpes simplex infection of the eyes
  • Sores or ulcers on the inside of your nose
  • If you've recently had a nose injury or surgery,

Flunisolide may weaken your immunity, making it more likely that you will contract an infection. Tell your doctor if you've had any illnesses or infections in the last few weeks. Tell your doctor as well if you suffer from type 2 diabetes. Steroids can increase the sugar levels in urine or blood. Your diabetes medication may need to be adjusted. This medicine is not known to harm unborn babies. Inform your physician if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. There is no way to know if flunisolide nasal can pass into breast milk or if it will harm a baby who is nursing. You should tell your doctor if you're breastfeeding a child. Steroids can have an impact on the growth of children. If your child's growth isn't normal while taking this medication, tell your doctor.

How to take Flunisolide nasal?

Please follow all the instructions on the prescription label. Your doctor may change your dosage from time to time in order to get you the best results. Use this medication only as directed. Do not exceed the recommended dose or use it for longer. You should read all the information provided, including medication guides and instructions. If you have questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Spray 5–6 test sprays in the air (away from your face) before your first use to create a fine mist. If you haven't used the nasal spray for at least 5 days or have disassembled the spray device to clean the device, prime the pump. Before using this medication, blow your nose gently and clear your nasal passages.

Flunisolide should not be used in children younger than six years of age. Flunisolide Nasal Spray should only be used by children over the age of 6 years. This medicine should be taken at regular intervals in order to maintain a constant amount of drug in the body.Adults shouldn't use more than eight sprays per nostril each day. Children under 14 should not spray more than four sprays per nostril each day. This medicine will not be more effective if you exceed the recommended dosage. It may also increase your risk of unwanted side effects. You may need to have frequent blood tests while using flunisolide. Your symptoms may improve in 1 to 2 weeks. Continue to use flunisolide as directed. Tell your doctor if you do not see improvement in your symptoms after three weeks.

Do not abruptly stop taking steroid medication. You may experience unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. Listen to your doctor when it comes to reducing your dose. Do not suddenly stop taking another steroid medication if you have been switched to flunisolide. This medicine should not be shared with anyone else, even if the other person has similar symptoms. Flunisolide Nasal should be stored upright at room temperature, away from heat and moisture. After 200 sprays of flunisolide nasal, throw away the spray bottle, even if the medicine is still in it.

Details on dosage

Adult dose for Allergic Rhinitis:
Initial dose: Spray 2 sprays into each nostril twice a day.
This dose can be increased if needed to 2 sprays per nostril, 3 times daily.
Maximum daily dose: 8 sprays per nostril.
Comments:
Do not use this product if you have an untreated, localized nasal infection.
Use: Treatment for nasal symptoms associated with seasonal or persistent rhinitis
The usual pediatric dose for allergic rhinitis is:
From 6 to 14 years:
Initial dose: Spray in each nostril three times daily or spray each nostril twice daily.
Maximum daily dose: four sprays per nostril.
Age 14 or older
Initial dose: Spray 2 sprays into each nostril twice a day.
This dose can be increased if needed to 2 sprays per nostril, 3 times daily.
Maximum daily dose: 8 sprays per nostril.
Comments:
Do not use this product if you have an untreated, localized nasal infection.
Use: Treatment for nasal symptoms associated with seasonal or persistent rhinitis

What happens if I miss the dose?

As soon as you recall, take the missed dose. If your next scheduled dosage is approaching, skip the missed dose. You should not take extra medicine to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention. A flunisolide nasal overdose is unlikely to cause life-threatening symptoms. Long-term use of high steroid dosages can cause symptoms like thinning of the skin, bruising easily, changes in body shape and location (especially on your neck, back, face, and waist), acne, facial hair growth, menstrual issues, impotence, or loss of interest in sex.

What should be avoided?

Avoid spraying the spray into your eyes or mouth. If you do get the spray in your eyes or mouth, rinse it out with water. Avoid being around people who are sick. If you have been exposed to chicken pox, call your doctor immediately for preventive treatment. Flunisolide nasal users can suffer from serious conditions or even die.

Interaction with other drug

Inform your doctor of all the medicines you are taking, including any new ones. Flunisolide is unlikely to interact with other drugs that you may take orally or even inject. Many drugs interact with each other. Inform your healthcare provider about the medicines you take, including vitamins and herbal remedies.
