What is feverall?

Feverall works as a pain reliever but also reduces fever. Feverall can be used as a suppository for many conditions, including headaches, muscle aches, arthritis, pain in the back, toothaches, colds, and fevers. Feverall can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Feverall

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, or throat. Fever can cause severe skin reactions that are fatal. This may happen even if the medicine has been taken in the past without causing a reaction. Call your doctor immediately if you experience skin redness, blistering, or peeling.

This medicine can cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Nausea; upper stomach pain; and loss of appetite.
  • Itching; dark urine; clay-colored stools
  • Jaundice

Warnings

Don't take more than the recommended dose. An acetaminophen overdose can cause liver damage or death. Fever can cause severe skin reactions in rare cases. If you notice skin redness, a rash, blistering, or peeling, stop using the medicine immediately and contact your doctor.

Before you take this drug

Feverall should not be used if you have an allergy to it. Feverall should only be used with a doctor’s approval if you've ever suffered from alcoholic hepatitis or cirrhosis or if your daily alcohol intake exceeds 3 drinks. You will be advised by your doctor if Feverall can be used during pregnancy. If you are pregnant, do not take Feverall unless your doctor has advised you to. Acetaminophen may pass into breastmilk and harm a nursing infant. If you are nursing a child, do not take this medication without first consulting your doctor. Do not administer this medicine to an infant without consulting a doctor.

How to take Feverall?

Read all the instructions or guides that come with your medication and follow the directions. Sometimes, your doctor will change the dose. You must take the medication exactly as it is prescribed. Use this medication only as directed. Acetaminophen overdoses can cause liver damage or death. Use a pediatric acetaminophen if you are treating a young child. Follow the instructions on the label of the medicine. You should not swallow a rectal suppository. This product is only to be used in the rectum. Before and after inserting a rectal suppository, wash your hands. Remove the wrapping before inserting the suppository. Do not hold the suppository for too long, or it may melt. Insert the suppository gently into your rectum. The pointed tip should be first. Stay lying down as long as possible for the best results. The suppository should melt very quickly, and you shouldn't feel any discomfort when holding it.

If you notice:

  • You still have a high temperature after using the product for 3 days.
  • You still feel pain after using the product for 10 days (or five days if you are treating a child);
  • You have a fever or are nauseated and vomiting.
  • You have a skin rash or a headache that persists, or you notice any redness or swelling.

You can also store the rectal suppositories in the fridge. The medicine should not be allowed to freeze. Store away from heat, moisture, and heat at room temperature.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Feverall can be used on an as-needed basis, so you might not have a regular dosing regimen. Use the missed dose immediately if you use the medication regularly. If your next scheduled dosage is near, skip the missed dose. You should not take extra medicine to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Call the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222 or seek emergency medical care. Acetaminophen overdoses can be deadly. Fever can cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, excessive sweating, and confusion. Other symptoms include dark urine and yellowing skin or whites of the eyes.

What should be avoided?

Before using any other cold or allergy medication, pain medication, or sleep medication (warfarin, Coumadin Jantoven), ask your doctor or pharmacist. Many combination medicines contain fever, also known as APAP. Combining certain products can result in an overdose of this medication, which is fatal. Avoid alcohol. Fever may increase the risk of liver damage.

Interaction with other drug

Feverall may be affected by other drugs, such as prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Inform your doctor of all the other medications you take.
