What is Exocaine Plus?
Exocaine (for the skin) is used to temporarily relieve minor aches and discomforts due to strains, sprains, arthritis, bruising pain, simple pain, or pain in the lower spine.Exocaine Plus can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.
Side effects of Exocaine Plus
If you experience any of the following signs of an allergic reaction: hives, difficulty breathing or swelling in your lips, face, tongue or throat. Seek medical assistance immediately.
Exocaine Plus may cause serious side effects. Exocaine Plus should be stopped immediately, and you should consult your doctor if:
- Redness or swelling in the treated area
- Increased pain
- Burning or severe skin irritation, such as a rash or itching.

Before you take this drug
If you've ever experienced an allergic reaction, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether Exocaine Plus can be used safely.Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you're pregnant or nursing.Avoid applying this medication to the nipple region if you are breastfeeding.This medicine should not be given to children without consulting a doctor.
How to take Exocaine Plus?
Follow the instructions on the label or those prescribed by your doctor.Take it only by mouth. Topical medicines are only to be used on the skin.Only apply to dry, clean skin. Apply only to clean and dry skin.Avoid applying to open wounds, blistered skin, or skin that has been sunburned.This medicine is only for young children. Be sure to follow all instructions when administering this medicine to a child.Apply a thin coating of medicine and gently rub it into the area.Apply the patch to the painful area and press firmly on the edges. After removing the patch, apply a fresh one according to the instructions.Before each use, shake the spray thoroughly.After applying the medicine or handling the skin patch, wash your hands with soap. Apply the medicine using a cotton ball, rubber glove, finger cot, or a clean tissue to avoid getting it on your fingers.
Wait at least 30 minutes after using the medication to wash your hands if you are treating an area on your fingers or hands.Avoid covering the treated area with bandages or heating pads.If your pain persists after seven days or your symptoms worsen or improve, call your doctor.Store away from moisture and heat.
What happens if I miss the dose?
Exocaine Plus can be used as needed. You can skip missed doses if you follow a schedule. Never use two doses in one go.
What happens if I overdose?
If anyone accidentally swallows the medicine, seek emergency medical care or call Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222.
What should be avoided?
Exocaine Plus should not be used in the eyes. Rinse your eyes with water if you do come into contact. Avoid getting the medication in your mouth, nose, rectum, or vagina.Avoid getting the medication on your contact lenses, dentures, and other items that come into contact with sensitive parts of your body.Do not use other medications without consulting your doctor.
Interaction with other drug
Tell your doctor about all medications you are taking, both prescribed and over-the-counter. Inform your doctor of all the medications you are taking, including over-the-counter and prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal remedies.
