
What is Dimetapp Cold and Allergy?
Dimetapp Cold & Allergy contains a combination of medicines that treat the symptoms of the common flu and seasonal allergies. These include sneezing and runny, stuffy, or watery noses, as well as itchy and watery eyes. This medication guide does not list all possible uses of Dimetapp for colds and allergies.
Side effects of Dimetapp Cold and Allergy
If you experience symptoms indicative of an allergic reaction, such as hives, difficulty breathing or swelling in your lips, face, tongue or throat - seek medical assistance immediately!
Dimetapp Cold Allergy can cause serious side effects. Dimetapp Cold Allergy should be stopped immediately, and you should consult your doctor if:
- Sleeplessness, anxiety, or dizziness
- Chest pain is characterized by a fast or irregular heartbeat.
- Little or no urinating is acceptable.
- Symptoms of dangerously high blood pressure include severe headaches, buzzing in the ears, anxiety, and shortness of breath.
- If your symptoms don't improve after seven days of treatment or you have a high fever, then call your doctor.

Before you take this drug
Dimetapp Cold Allergy should not be used if you've taken an MAO inhibitor within the last 14 days. Harmful drug interactions may occur. MAO inhibitors include isocarboxazid (linezolid), phenelzine (rasagiline), selegiline (tranylcypromine), and rasagiline. This medicine should not be used if you have an allergy to brompheniramine or phenylephrine.
Have You experienced Any of These:
- A breathing problem, such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis.
- Diabetes;
- High blood pressure, heart disease
- Urination or prostate problems;
- Glaucoma;
- Overactive thyroid.
Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you're pregnant or nursing. Children aged six or under should only take this medicine under medical advice from a certified practitioner.
How to take Dimetapp Cold and Allergy?
Keep the instructions provided on the label or by your doctor in mind. Antihistamines should not be used to put a child to sleep.Use only the measuring device provided for liquid medications - don't try using something from your kitchen as a measuring instrument! Store away from heat and moisture at room temperature.
What happens if I miss the dose?
You may not have a schedule for cold medicine, as it is taken when needed. Use the missed dose immediately if you use the medication regularly.If the next scheduled dosage is soon approaching, disregard any missed ones.You should not take extra medicine to compensate for a missed dose.
What happens if I overdose?

What should be avoided?
This medication can impair your reactions or thinking.Take care when driving or engaging in other tasks which require attention and caution, including any activity which necessitates alertness such as cleaning. Dimetapp Cold & Allergy and alcohol can have side effects. Before taking any new cold or allergy medicine or sleeping aids, consult with your physician or pharmacist first. Brompheniramine and phenylephrine can often be found together and taking too much medicine can result. Always check the label to make sure any medication contains antihistamines or decongestants.
Interaction with other drug
Dimetapp Cold & Allergy may worsen the effects of other drugs. Before taking an opioid, sleeping pill, muscle relaxer, or medication for anxiety or seizures, consult your doctor. Before using this medication, ask your doctor or pharmacist if you also use any other medications, such as prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
