What is Dimetane Decongestant?

Dimetane is used as a combination medication to treat the symptoms of the cold and seasonal allergies. These include sneezing or runny noses, itchy, watery eyes, or a stuffy, irritated nose. This medication guide does not list all possible uses for dimetane decogestants.

Side Effects of Dimetane Decongestant

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, or throat.

Before you take this drug

Dimetane decongestant should not be used if MAO inhibitors have been taken in the last 14 days. It is possible that a dangerous drug interaction will occur. MAO inhibitors include isocarboxazid (linezolid), phenelzine (rasagiline), selegiline (tranylcypromine), and rasagiline.

This medicine should not be used if you have an allergy to brompheniramine or phenylephrine.

How to take Dimetane Decongestant?

Follow the instructions on the label or those prescribed by your doctor. Antihistamines should not be used to put a child to sleep. Use the measuring device provided for accurate liquid medication measurements (not spoon). Store away from heat and moisture at room temperature.

What happens if I miss the dose?

You may not have a schedule for cold medicine, as it is taken when needed. Use the missed dose immediately if you use the medication regularly. If your next scheduled dosage is near, skip the missed dose. You should not take extra medicine to compensate for a missed dose.

This medication can impair your reactions or thinking. You should be careful when driving or doing anything else that requires alertness. Dimetane decongestant and alcohol can have side effects. Before using any other cold or allergy medicine or sleeping medication, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Brompheniramine and phenylephrine are found in many combination medicines. You can get too much medicine by using certain products in combination. You can check the label of a medication to see if it contains antihistamines or decongestants.

Interaction with other drug

Dimetane decongestants can make this worse. Before taking an opioid, a sleeping tablet, a muscle-relaxing medication, or medicine to treat anxiety or seizures, consult your doctor. Before using this medication, ask your doctor or pharmacist if you also use any other medications, such as prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
