As you age, the recommended daily dosage of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) will change. Please follow the instructions of your healthcare provider. For additional information, visit either the Office of Dietary Supplements of NIH or USDA Nutrient Database of Recommended Daily Allowances. Ascorbic acid should be consumed with plenty of fluids. Before being swallowed, chewable tablets must first be chewed thoroughly. Do not chew or break a capsule. Swallow the capsule whole.

Use the measuring device provided to measure liquid medicines (not a spoon). Keep the tablet in its original packaging until you're ready to use it. Remove a tablet carefully using dry hands, placing it into your mouth without chewing, and allow it to dissipate slowly over time. Do not stop taking ascorbic acid abruptly after a long period of high dosages. You could develop a "conditional" deficiency in vitamin C. The symptoms include bleeding gums and fatigue.
