How to take Canasa Pac (rectal)?
Carefully read all instructions or guides included with your medication and follow all label directions exactly. Follow the directions on the label. Avoid taking a rectal supppository or enema with your mouth. Use it only on your rectum.
For best results, use Canasa Pac at bedtime. Before using rectal medication, try to empty your bladder and bowel. Please read and follow all instructions for use that come with your medicine. Use rectal medication only after washing your hands.
Remove the wrapping before inserting the suppository. Do not handle the suppository for too long, or it may melt. Lay on your back, with your knees pointing up towards your chest. Insert the suppository gently into your rectum, pointing the tip first.
You can lie down and let the suppository dissolve for a few moments. There should be little to no discomfort. If possible, avoid using the toilet for at least 1 to 3 hours. Be sure to shake the liquid rectal well before using. Canasa Pac is a great way to stay hydrated.
For the enema, lie on your left with your left leg straightened and your right leg slightly bent. Remove the cap and gently insert the tip into the rectum. Slowly squeeze the bottle until the entire contents are emptied into your rectum.
Lay on your left for 30 minutes after using an enema to allow liquid to spread throughout your intestines. Hold the enema for at least eight hours, or even all night if you can. Every day, drink plenty of water.
Your symptoms may not improve for up to three weeks. Continue to take the medication according to instructions, and inform your doctor if you do not see improvement in your symptoms.
Blood tests may be required to monitor your kidney or blood cell function. Canasa Pac can interfere with certain medical tests. You should tell any doctor that treats you about Canasa Pac.
Store away from moisture, heat, and cold at a cool temperature. After removing the foil pouch, it is possible that the enema fluid will darken. The medicine should not be affected by this. Throw away any enema fluid that has become dark brown.
