How to take Calcium, magnesium, potassium, and sodium oxybates?
Read all the instructions and directions that come with your prescription. Xywav may cause severe drowsiness or slow your breathing. This can happen even if you take it regularly or are taking stimulant medication. Follow the instructions on your medication.
Xywav can be addictive. Misuse of Xywav can lead to addiction, overdose, or death. Store the medication away from others. It is illegal to sell or give away this medication. This medicine must not be used by anyone else. Take Xywav as a single dose at night or in two doses (once before bedtime and then again 2,5 to 4 hours after). Xywav should not be taken within two hours of eating. The child-resistant dose cups that come with the medication must be used to mix Xywav with 2 ounces (1/4 mug) of water.
Prepare both doses as you prepare for bed if you take two doses per night. The second dose should be placed in a safe location near your bed so that you can easily take it without having to get up. It may be necessary to set an alarm for the second dosage.
This medication works quickly. Most patients fall asleep in 5 to 15 minutes. Take Xywav while you're sitting on your bed, ready to sleep. Some people have been injured by falling asleep when standing up or getting out of bed. Do not let a child use this medication without adult supervision.
If you suddenly stop taking Xywav or change the dose, you may experience unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. You should ask your doctor about how to safely stop taking this medication. Store away from heat and moisture at room temperature. Store your medication in a safe place so that no one else can misuse it. Do not use any of the doses within 24 hours. Keep unused Xywav fluid out of the refrigerator. Your pharmacist can direct you to a programme for drug disposal. Pour any liquid medication that is not needed down the sink drain if there is no drug take-back disposal programme.
