What is Baloxavir marboxil?
Baloxavir marboxil treats flu symptoms that are caused by influenza in those who have not had symptoms longer than 48 hours. Baloxavir marboxil does not treat the common cold.Baloxavir marboxil can also be used to prevent flu symptoms for people who have had contact with someone who is infected.Baloxavir Marboxil is only for adults and children who are at least 12 and weigh at least 88 lbs (40 kilograms).Baloxavir-marboxil is not a substitute for a flu shot. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that you get an annual flu vaccine to protect yourself from the new strains of influenza viruses each year.This medication guide does not list all possible uses of baloxavir marboxil.
Side effects of Baloxavir marboxil?
If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your lips, face, tongue, or throat.
Some of the common side effects associated with baloxavir marboxil include:

- Headache
- Runny or stuffy nasal symptoms

Before you take this drug
If you have an allergy to baloxavir, do not take it.Inform your doctor of any pregnancy or plans to become pregnant. Influenza during pregnancy could cause serious complications, which can harm both the mother and the baby. Treatment of influenza can be beneficial to both mother and baby.The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP) recommend that women who are pregnant get a flu vaccine during any trimester to protect them and their babies against the flu.Inform your doctor if breastfeeding is a concern.
How to take Baloxavir marboxil?
Read all instructions or guides that come with your medication and follow all directions. Follow the directions on the label.Baloxavir is typically given in a single dose. Baloxavir marboxil is available as either tablets or liquid (oral suspension), which are mixed by healthcare professionals.Baloxavir and Marboxil dosages are calculated based on body weight. Do not share the medicine. Follow all instructions for dosage.Take baloxavir-marboxil as soon as you notice flu symptoms. This medication may not work if you've been sick for more than 48 hours.Take your baloxavir-marboxil dose as soon after contact with someone sick as possible.Take baloxavir with or without food.Take this medication with milk, yogurt, or calcium-fortified drinks.Avoid taking baloxavir-marboxil along with laxatives, antacids, or vitamins or mineral supplements that contain aluminum, calcium, magnesium, iron, or zinc.If your symptoms don't improve or worsen, contact your physician immediately.Keep the tablet at room temperature, away from heat and moisture. You must use the liquid within 10 hours from the time it is mixed.
What happens if I miss the dose?
Baloxavir Marboxil does not require a daily dose schedule and is only used in a single dosage.

What should be avoided?
Consult your doctor prior to getting a "live flu" vaccine (such as a nasal FluMist). FluMist may be less effective if baloxavir marboxil interferes with its drug action.
Interaction with other drug
Baloxavir marboxil may be affected by other drugs, such as prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Inform your doctor of all the other medications you take.
