Before you take this drug

It is not recommended to utilise ascorbic acid and carbonyl iron if sensitive to them.Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's appropriate to take this medication in case you suffer from any allergies or other health conditions. How to take Ascorbic acid and carbonyl iron?

Take exactly as indicated on the label or as directed by your physician. Avoid using larger than smaller quantities or for longer than is recommended.Don't crush, chew, or tear the tablet. Take it in whole.To get the best results, drink carbonyl and ascorbic acids in a stomach empty for at least one hour prior to or two hours following a meal.Carbonyl iron and ascorbic acid can be taken in conjunction with food if they upset your stomach.Store at a cool temperature, free of heat and moisture.Make sure this product is out of the reach of young children. Accidental overdoses of products containing iron are the leading cause of fatal poisoning among children younger than six. If you experience an accidental overdose, get immediate medical attention or contact a poison control centre now.

What happens if I miss the dose?

You should take the missed dose as quickly as you can remember. Do not take your missed dose if it's nearing the time for the next dose. Don't take any extra medication to make up for the missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

For medical emergencies, seek emergency treatment or contact the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222. A high dose of iron can cause death, especially when a child is involved.The initial signs of iron poisoning could be stomach discomfort, vomiting, diarrhoea, bloody or tarry stool, and bloody coughs, as well as pale skin and a fast heart rate. Other symptoms can include severe weakness, numbness, or a cold sensation; blue lips; coughing; breathing heavily; coughing with foamy mucus; as well as fainting.

What should be avoided?

Do not take ascorbic acid or carbonyl iron for a period of 2 hours prior to or following the time when you take other medications, particularly one that is an antibiotic. Carbonyl iron and ascorbic acid could make it more difficult for the body to absorb certain medications that you consume by mouth.
