What is Safyral?

Safyral includes a mix of drospirenone, ethinyl estradiol, and levomefolate. Drospirenone as well as ethinyl estradiol can prevent the ovulation process (the release of eggs from the ovaries) and may result in changes to the uterine mucus and cervical liner, making it more difficult for sperm to get into the uterus and more difficult for fertilized eggs to connect to the uterus. Levomefolate is a B vitamin that aids in preventing an uncommon birth defect that may occur in a child in the event of pregnancy while taking contraceptives for birth or soon after quitting the pills.Safyral is a contraceptive to stop the occurrence of pregnancy.

Warnings

Do not use Safyral when you are expecting or have recently had a child.

It is not recommended to use Safyral in the event of an abnormality in the adrenal gland, kidney disease, high blood pressure that is not controlled, coronary artery diseases, circulatory problems (especially associated with diabetes), undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, liver disease, cancer, or severe migraine headaches in the event that you also take certain hepatitis C medications, or when you are scheduled for major surgery, or if you smoke and are over 35 years old, or have had an attack on your heart, a stroke, blood clot, jaundice that is caused by birth control pills or breast cancer vagina, uterus/cervix, or vagina.

Taken in combination with safyral, it could increase the chance of developing blood clots, a heart attack, or a stroke.Smoking is a major contributor to the risk of stroke, blood clots, and heart attack. You should not use Safyral when you smoke and are older than 35.

Side effects of Safyral

See a doctor immediately. If you exhibit symptoms that indicate an allergic reaction, such as difficulty breathing, hives, and swelling of your lips, face, and tongue,

Stop taking Safyral and contact your doctor immediately if you are suffering from:

  • Symptoms of stroke: sudden weakening or numbness (especially in one part of your body) or a sudden and severe headache or slurred speech; difficulties with balance or vision;
  • Symptoms of blood clots: sudden loss of vision and chest pain that is stabbing, feeling tired, bleeding blood, coughing up blood, discomfort or warmth on one or both legs;
  • Heart attack signs heart attack symptoms: chest pain, pressure, pain that spreads to your shoulder or jaw, nausea, sweating, or vomiting;
  • Liver issues: loss of appetite, stomach pain, tiredness, black stools, dark urine, and jaundice (yellowing of the eyes or skin);
  • Higher blood pressure Headache that is severe, unfocused vision, and the sound of pounding sensations in your neck or ear;
  • Swelling in your ankles, hands, or feet;
  • A change in the frequency or severity of migraine headaches;
  • Signs of depression sleep issues fatigue, weakness, tiredness, and mood changes

Common safyral adverse effects could include:

  • Nausea;
  • Tenderness in the breast;
  • Headaches migraine
  • Breakthrough bleeding.

Before you take this drug

The use of safyral increases the risk of developing blood clots, heart attack, or stroke. You're more at risk if you suffer from diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or are overweight. The risk of having a stroke or blood clots is highest in the first year you begin taking Safyral. The risk increases when you begin to take this medicine after having stopped taking it for 4 weeks or more.

Smoking is a major contributor to the risk of stroke, blood clots, and heart attacks. Your risk increases as you age, in addition to the amount you smoke. It is not recommended to use Safyral when smoking or older than 35.

Do not use it if expecting. Stop using Safyral and inform your doctor right away when you are pregnant or do not have two menstrual periods in one go. If you've recently had an infant, you should wait at least four weeks before you start taking Safyral.

Safyral is not recommended for you if: Safyral in the event that you are:

  • An adrenal gland disorder
  • Kidney disease;
  • Untreated or not controlled high blood pressure that is not treated or controlled
  • Heart disease (coronary coronary artery disease with an etiology of stroke, heart attack, and blood clots);
  • An increased risk of developing blood clots because of a heart condition or hereditary blood disorder
  • Issues with circulation (especially those related to the condition of diabetes);

The hormones found in safyral may be absorbed into breast milk and could affect a nursing child. Safyral can also reduce the production of breast milk. Beware of using it if are taking medication.

How to take Safyral?

Use Safyral exactly as directed by your physician. Follow the instructions on the prescription label. Don't take this medication in smaller or greater quantities or for more time than the recommended time. The first time you take it is on your first date of menstrual cycle, or the day after the start of your period. It is possible to require additional birth control options, for example, condoms that contain spermicide, at the time you first begin using this medication.You should take one pill a day and no more than 24 hours in between. When the pills have run out and you are unable to refill them, try a new one the next day. It is possible to become pregnant if you take one pill a day.

It is essential to use the pills in the correct sequence for Safyral to prevent pregnancy. Follow the arrows on every row of pills within the blister pack. The last few pills you consume contain only levomefolate and not contraceptive (birth control) medications.

You should consider using a backup birth control method in the event of extreme diarrhea or vomiting.There is a possibility that the bleeding will be a breakthrough, especially in the first three months. Inform your doctor if the bleeding persists or becomes very massive.

Details on dosage

Usual Adult Dose for Contraception:

One tablet is taken orally every day. Patients should begin taking the tablets either on the first day of the menstrual cycle (Day 1 Begin) or the first Sunday following the start of the menstrual cycle (Sunday Beginning). The patient must begin the next and subsequent 28-day regimens on the exact day that she started the first one and follow the same regimen.

Do I be concerned if I miss a dose?

Follow the directions for use given by your doctor. Consult your physician or pharmacist for clarification if you are unsure of these directions. The absence of a pill can increase your likelihood of becoming pregnant. If you skip a pill in the week of Week 1 or 2, or 3, you should take 2 pills the next day you can remember. Then, take one pill each day throughout the pack.

If you do not take two pills during weeks 1, 2 or 3, you should take two pills a day for two days. Take 1 pill each day throughout the remainder of the group. You should use backup birth control for up to 7 consecutive days after the missing pills.If you fail to take two pills in a row during Week 3, toss away the remainder of the pack and begin another pack on the same day if you're a Day 1 starter. If you're a Sunday-based starter, you should continue taking a dose every day through Sunday. On Sunday, toss away the remainder of the pack and begin a new pack for the day.

If you take three pills in a row during the weeks of 1–2 or 3, discard the remainder of your pack and begin a new pack the following day, if you're one of the day 1 starters. If you're a Sunday-based starter, you should continue taking a pill each day through Sunday. When you are done, take away the rest of your pack and begin a new pack the following day.

If you skip at least two pills in a row, then you will not have a period throughout the month. If you have not had your period for more than two consecutive months, contact your doctor, as there is a possibility that you are pregnant.

If you don't take the levomefolate pills in Week 4 of your treatment, discard the pill and continue taking one daily pill until the bottle is empty.

What should be avoided?

Avoid smoking when you take Safyral, especially if you are over 35 years old.

Safyral does not shield you from sexually transmitted illnesses such as HIV or AIDS. A condom is the best way to guard yourself from these diseases.

Interaction with other drugs

Other medications can be incompatible with drospirenone, ethinyl estradiol, and levomefolate. This includes prescription and over-the-counter medicines as well as vitamins and herbal products. Certain drugs may reduce the effectiveness of this medication, which could lead to pregnancy.
