What is Vardenafil?
Vardenafil is prescribed to adult males to treat the problem of erectile dysfunction (impotence).Vardenafil is also employed for other purposes that are not covered in this guideline.
Side effects of Vardenafil

- Breathlessness;
- An euphoric feeling, similar to you're passing out or
- Seizure (convulsions).
Common side effects of vardenafil include:
- Flushing (sudden heat, redness, or tingling sensation);
- Stuffy nose, sinus pain;
- Headache, dizziness;
- Upset stomach;
- Back pain.

Warnings
Certain medications can trigger undesirable or harmful side effects when taken together with Vardenafil. Tell your doctor about any other medications you take, including riociguat (Adempas).
Don't take vardenafil if you're also taking a nitrate medication to treat the chest or for heart conditions such as nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, and other recreational drugs like "poppers". Vardenafil taken in conjunction with a nitrate medication could cause an unexpected and severe drop in blood pressure.
Contact your doctor or seek medical emergency attention. If your erection feels painful or lasts for more than four hours, An unrestrained erection (priapism) could cause damage to the penis.Stop taking vardenafil and seek medical assistance immediately if you are experiencing sudden vision loss.
Before you take this drug
Vardenafil is not a good choice if you have an allergy to it or if you use other medications for treating hypertension in the pulmonary artery, for example, Riociguat (Adempas).
Avoid taking vardenafil in conjunction with the nitrate drugs to treat the chest or for heart issues like nitroglycerin isosorbide dinitrate and mononitrate isosorbide. Nitrates are also present in a variety of recreational drugs, such as amyl-nitrate or nitrite ("poppers"). When you take vardenafil in conjunction with a nitrate medication, it can cause a drastic and sudden reduction in blood pressure.
Speak to your physician if you have ever experienced:
- Heart disease and heart rhythm issues
- A heart attack, stroke, or congestive heart failure
- The long QT disorder (in either you or a relative);
- Blood pressure, or high blood pressure, or
- Seizure (convulsions);
- Are You Suffering From Blood Cell Disorders Like Sickle Cell Anemia, Multiple Myeloma or Leukemia?
- A blood disorder like hemophilia;
- A stomach ulcer;
- Hearing or vision problems; vision loss;
- An eye disorder, such as retinitis pigmentosa (an inheritable condition of the eye);
- A physical defect that affects the penis (such as the condition known as Peyronie's disease);
- If you've been told not to engage in sexual relations for medical reasons or
- Liver disease kidney disease (or when you are on dialysis).
Vardenafil reduces the flow of blood to the optic nerve in the eye, which can cause an abrupt loss of vision. It has happened to very few individuals who suffered from cardiovascular disease, diabetic issues, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or other pre-existing eye issues, as well as those who smoke or are older than 50. It isn't clear if Vardenafil may be the reason behind the loss of vision.

Details on dosage
Usual Adult Dose for Erectile Dysfunction:
Initial dose: 10 mg every day, as required, about 60 minutes prior to sexual activity. Increase the dosage to 20 mg or lower it to 5 mg based on effectiveness and tolerability.
Maximum dose: 20 mg once a day.
Patients who are receiving stabilized alpha-blocker treatment
Initial dose: 5 mg taken orally every day, once
Comments:
Sexual stimulation is essential to eliciting a response.
A time period between doses is recommended when combining this drug with alpha-blockers.
Patients taking alpha-blockers shouldn't begin vardenafil treatment with the tablet that dissolves orally.

Age 65 or over:
Initial dosage: 5 mg daily, orally when needed, about 60 minutes prior to sexual activity.

What happens if I miss the dose?
As vardenafil can be used when required, you aren't likely to be following an exact dosing schedule.Vardenafil should not be taken more often than twice a day. Give yourself 24 hours between doses.

What should be avoided?
Grapefruit, along with Seville oranges, could react with vardenafil, causing adverse negative effects. Avoid drinking grapefruit juice and marmalades made of orange.
Drinking alcohol can trigger certain adverse effects associated with vardenafil.Don't take any other medication to treat impotence unless your doctor has instructed you to.
Interaction with other drug
Don't use vardenafil in conjunction with similar medications like avanafil (Stendra), sildenafil (Viagra), and tadalafil (Cialis). Inform your doctor of any other medication you take to treat erectile dysfunction.
Inform your doctor about any other medications you take, particularly:
- An antibiotic—clarithromycin, erythromycin;
- Antifungal medicine: itraconazole, ketoconazole;
- Drugs to treat high blood pressure or a prostate disorder—alfuzosin, doxazosin, prazosin, silodosin, terazosin, and tamsulosin;
- Heart rhythm medicine—amiodarone, dronedarone, procainamide, quinidine, sotalol; or
- HIV/AIDS medicine: atazanavir, indinavir, ritonavir, saquinavir, cobicistat, and others.
