What is Ultrasal-ER?

Salicylic acid is a keratolytic (peeling agent) that causes the skin's outer layer to shed.ultrasal-ER (for the skin) is used for treatments for acne, dandruff, seborrhea, or psoriasis, as well as to get rid of calluses, corns, and warts.

Ultrasal-ER could be used for other purposes not covered in this guideline.

Side effects of Ultrasal-ER

Ultrasal-ER may cause a rare but severe allergic reaction or serious skin irritation. These reactions could occur only in a matter of minutes after applying the medication or within a day or more afterward.

Stop using ultrasal and seek medical attention immediately if you are experiencing symptoms that indicate an allergic reaction, such as itching, hives, breathing difficulties, feeling lightheaded, and swelling of your face, tongue, lips, or throat.

Stop using ultrasal and contact your doctor right away. If you suffer from:

  • Extremely headache that causes the ringing of your ears issues with hearing trouble with your thinking;
  • Extreme stomach discomfort, vomiting, or diarrhea;
  • A feeling of lightheadedness, as if you're passing out;
  • Breathlessness
  • Extreme dryness, burning, or irritation to the skin.

Common side effects of ultrasal include:

  • Small inflammation of the skin, rash, or peeling
  • Modifications in the shade of the affected skin (usually the skin is whitened).

Prior to use this drug

It is recommended not to use ultrasal if you have an allergy to it.The use of ultrasal-ER by teens or children suffering from flu manifestations as well as chickenpox can lead to the death of a person or cause a disease known as Reye's syndrome.

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for a recommendation on whether this medication is safe to use if you are suffering from:

  • Kidney disease or liver failure;
  • The condition diabetes;
  • Problems with blood circulation.

Talk to your doctor prior to using this medicine if you are nursing or pregnant.

How to take Ultrasal-ER?

Ultrasal-ER can be found in many varieties, including liquid gel, lotion cream, ointment foam shampoo, soap, pad pads for cloth, and patches for skin.Use only as indicated on the label or as recommended by your physician.Do not chew it. Topical medicines are meant for use on only the skin.

Ultrasal-ER could cause a rare but severe allergic reaction to the skin or cause severe irritation. Apply a tiny amount of the drug as a "test dose" to one or two small areas of skin each day for three days. If you don't experience any reaction to the medicine, then you can begin to use the entire dose after the 4th day.You may have shaken the medication prior to taking it. Follow all the instructions on the label of the product.

Don't use ultrasal-ER to treat any health condition that has not been examined by your physician.The symptoms might not get better over a period of time. Contact your physician if your symptoms don't improve or if they worsen.Place the medicine in the original bottle at room temperature and away from heat and moisture.

Make sure the foam container is kept away from flames or extreme temperatures. The canister could explode if it becomes too hot. Don't puncture or burn an empty aerosol bottle.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Ultrasal-ER is a medication that can be used when it is needed. If you're following a regular dosing regimen, you should skip missed doses. Do not take two doses at the same time.

What happens if I overdose?

Get medical attention immediately or contact the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222 if you have accidentally swallowed the medication.

What should be avoided?

Avoid applying ultrasal-ER to open wounds as well as to skin that is sunburned, scaly, dry, or irritated.Rinse your mouth with water if this medication gets into your mouth or eyes.

This medicine could be inflammable. Be careful not to use it near extreme temperatures or near an open flame. Clean your hands prior to working with a hair styling tool (such as a straightening or curling iron). The high heat can cause the medicine to burn and cause skin burns. Don't smoke until the gel has been absorbed by your skin.

Do not use other medicines for the areas you treat using ultrasal-ER unless your physician has instructed you to.

Interaction with other drugs

The skin-care products you take are unlikely to affect other medicines that you are taking, but medications can interact. Inform your doctor about all the medications you are currently taking, including prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal remedies.
