What is Sarnol-HC?

Sarnol-HC (for the skin) is a steroid that is used to combat irritation and itching caused by skin disorders that respond to medication containing steroids.

There are a variety of varieties and brands of hydrocortisone topicals that are available. Some brands are not mentioned in this leaflet.Sarnol-HC could be used to treat other conditions that aren't listed in this guide.

Side effects of Sarnol-HC

See a doctor immediately. Get medical attention immediately if you notice symptoms that indicate an allergic reaction, like hives, trouble breathing, and swelling of your lips, face, or tongue.

Sarnol-HC can cause serious adverse side effects. Contact your physician immediately if you suffer from:

  • The condition of your skin is getting worse.
  • Redness, warmth, swelling, bleeding, or severe irritation on any skin treated
  • High blood sugar—increased thirst, more frequent urine production, dry mouth or breath that smells of fruit
  • Possible signs of absorbing Sarnol-HC through your skin, such as weight gain (especially on your face or your torso and upper back), slow healing of wounds, thin and discolored skin, an increase in muscle weakness, sickness, diarrhea, fatigue, mood swings, as well as menstrual and sexual changes

Talk to your doctor prior to using this medicine if you are nursing or pregnant.When you put Sarnol-HC on your chest, stay clear of areas that might come into contact with the baby's mouth.

How to take Sarnol-HC?

Follow the directions on the label or as recommended by your physician.

Do not chew it. Topical medicines are to be used only on the skin.Be sure to read and adhere to any instructions for use that come along with your medication. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor for clarification if you are unsure of the instructions.Wash your hands thoroughly before and after taking hydrocortisone in the event that you are not using this medication to treat rough skin on your hands.Use a light layer of cream on the affected area and massage it gently. Don't cover the treated skin region with a bandage or other cover-up unless your physician has instructed you to. Covering the area treated can make it more difficult for medication to be absorbed by your skin and can cause negative consequences.

Shake off the hydrocortisone cream in addition to spraying it well prior to every use.If you're dealing with the area around your diaper with plastic, don't use diapers or tight-fitting ones.Stop taking hydrocortisone and contact your physician if your symptoms do not improve or if they become worse in the space of seven days.

Make sure it is kept at room temperature, clear from moisture and heat.Don't freeze. Close the bottle when not being used.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Apply the medicine as fast as you can; however, avoid the missed dose if you think it is getting close to the time of the next dose. Do not take two doses at once.

What happens if I overdose?

Get medical attention immediately or contact the poison help line at 1-800-222-1222 in the event that anyone has swallowed the medicine accidentally.

Long-term or high-dose use of Sarnol-HC may cause the skin to become thinner, bruising, changes in the body's fat (especially around the neck, face, back, waist, and face), increased facial hair or acne, menstrual disorders, impotence, or a decrease in attraction to sexual activities.

What should be avoided?

Don't use Sarnol-HC in the treatment of any skin problem that hasn't been examined by your physician.Do not let Sarnol-HC get into eye contact. If contact does occur, clean your eyes with water.

Interaction with other drugs

Skin care products will not be affected by other medicines you take. However, a variety of drugs may interact with each other. Be sure to inform your health professionals about all medications you take, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbs.
