What is Robitussin Peak Cold Nighttime Cold + Flu?

Acetaminophen is used to reduce fever and relieve pain. Dextromethorphan works as a cough suppressant. It works by affecting the cough reflex that is activated in the brain. Doxylamine reduces the effects caused by the natural chemical histamine. Histamine may cause symptoms such as sneezing, itching, and watery eyes. Robitussin Peak is cold. Nighttime Cold and Flu is a combination medication used to treat headaches, fever, body pains, cough, sneezing, or sore throats due to allergies, the flu, or the common cold. The cough caused by smoking or asthma will not be treated with Robitussin Peak Cough Nighttime Cold and Flu. This medication guide does not list all possible uses for Robitussin for peak cold, nighttime cold, and flu.

Side Effects of Robitussin Peak Cold Nighttime Cold + Flu

If you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction: difficulty breathing, hives or swelling to lips, face, tongue or throat - seek medical assistance immediately! Acetaminophen can cause severe skin reactions that are fatal. This may happen even if you've taken it before and never had a reaction. Call your doctor immediately if the skin becomes red or you develop a rash. If blisters form and you peel them off, stop taking this medication.

The medicine can cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Severe headache, seizure (convulsions);
  • Fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeats;
  • Dizziness, confusion, or drowsiness
  • Tremors are restless muscular movements.
  • Little or no urinating is acceptable.
  • Flu symptoms include easy bruising and bleeding, pale skin, or feeling weak.
  • Nausea is a pain in the upper stomach that causes itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, and clay-colored stools. Jaundice is a yellowing of your skin or eyes.

Robitussin peak is cold. A nighttime cold or flu may cause the following side effects:

  • Headache, sleep problems (insomnia);
  • Upset stomach or diarrhea.
  • Dry eyes, blurred vision, or a dry mouth, nose,
  • Dizziness, drowsiness, or mild dizziness
  • Feeling restless or excited, especially in children
  • Mild skin rash.

Warnings

MAO inhibitors include isocarboxazid (linezolid), phenelzine (rasagiline), selegiline (tranylcypromine), and rasagiline. To protect yourself from an adverse interaction it is advised that this medicine not be taken within 14 days after having taken one of these MAO inhibitors - an unexpected drug reaction may arise which could prove dangerous. Don't take more than recommended. An acetaminophen overdose can cause liver damage or death. Acetaminophen can cause severe skin reactions in rare cases. Immediately discontinue taking medicine that causes skin reddening, blisters or peeling and contact your physician immediately.

Before you take this drug

If you've ever suffered from liver disease or drink more than three alcoholic drinks per day, you should consult a doctor prior to taking acetaminophen. If you have taken a MAO inhibitor within the last 14 days, do not take this medication. It is possible that a dangerous drug interaction will occur. MAO inhibitors are furazolidone, phenelzine, selegiline, rasagiline, and tranylcypromine. This medication should not be used if you have an allergy to acetaminophen, doxylamine, or dextromethorphan (Tylenol).

Before taking this medication, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you suffer from any medical conditions.

  • Asthma, or COPD. A cough with mucus or a cough caused by tobacco smoking
  • A blockage of the intestines or stomach;
  • If you consume more than three alcoholic drinks per day, you may have liver disease.
  • Kidney disease
  • An enlarged prostrate can cause problems with urination.
  • Glaucoma;
  • If you are taking potassium-containing products (Cytra Epiklor K-Lyte K-Phos Kaon Klor Con Polycitra Urocit K), they could affect how well your liver performs and cause serious side effects.

Unknown is whether or not this medicine can harm an unborn child. If you are pregnant, do not take cough and cold medicines without consulting your doctor. This medicine can pass into breastmilk and harm a nursing infant. Antihistamines can also reduce breast milk production. If you are breastfeeding, do not take cough and cold medicines without consulting your doctor. Phenylalanine can be found in artificially sweetened liquid medicines. If you suffer from phenylketonuria, be sure to carefully read your medication label. Never give cough and cold medications to very young children without consulting a doctor.

How to take Robitussin Peak Cold Nighttime Cold + Flu?

Do not exceed the recommended dosage. Use only as directed. Usually, cough and cold medicines are taken for only a few days until symptoms disappear. Don't take more than recommended. Acetaminophen overdoses can cause liver damage or death. Use a medicine cup or spoon to measure liquid medicines. Consult your pharmacist if you do not possess the means for measuring doses accurately. If you continue to have a sore or scratchy throat for more than 2 days or have any of the following: a fever or headache, rash or nausea, or vomiting, call your doctor. Tell your doctor or surgeon if you've taken Robitussin for peak cough, nighttime cold, or fever within the last few days if you are in need of surgery or a medical test. Store away from moisture or heat at room temperature. Liquid medicines should not be allowed to freeze.

What happens if I miss the dose?

You may not have a schedule for this medication, as it is only used when necessary. If you have a regular schedule, take the missed dose immediately after you remember.If the next scheduled dosage of medicine is fast approaching, disregard any missed ones and do not attempt to compensate by taking extra pills to make up for what may have been missed.

What happens if I overdose?

Call the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222 or seek emergency medical care. Acetaminophen overdoses can be deadly. Loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, excessive sweating, and confusion or weakness are the first signs. Other symptoms include dark urine and yellowing skin or whites of the eyes.

What should be avoided?

Before using any other pain reliever, allergy medicine, or sleep medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Many combination medications contain acetaminophen, also known as APAP. Taking some products together may cause an overdose of acetaminophen, which could be fatal. Avoid alcohol. Alcohol can cause liver damage and certain side effects. This medication can cause blurred or double vision, and it may affect your ability to think clearly. You should be careful when driving or doing anything else that requires you to have clear vision and to be alert.

Interaction with other drug

Before using Robitussin, ask your doctor or pharmacist if you're also taking any other medications, such as vitamins and herbal remedies. When used together, some medicines can have unwanted or harmful effects. This medication guide does not list all possible interactions. This medicine can have adverse effects if taken with drugs that cause sleepiness or reduce breathing.
