What is Robitussin Cold and Cough?

Dextromethorphan works as a cough suppressant. It works by affecting the brain signals that trigger the cough reflex. Guaifenesin acts as an expectorant. It loosens congestion in the chest and throat, making it easier for you to cough through your mouth. Pseudoephedrine works as a nasal decongestant by shrinking blood vessels. Dilated blood vessels can cause congestion in the nasal passages. Robitussin Cough and Cold is a combination medication used to treat allergies, colds, flus, and chest congestion. Robitussin Cold & Cough does not treat coughs caused by smoking or asthma. This medication guide does not list all possible uses for Robitussin for colds and coughs.
