What is Riomet ER?

Riomet Er is used in conjunction with diet and exercise for adults with type 2 diabetic mellitus. Riomet ER can be used in conjunction with insulin and other medications. However, this medication is not approved for the treatment of type I diabetes. Riomet ER can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Riomet ER

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your lips, face, tongue, or throat.

Riomet ER can cause lactic acidosis. This condition is fatal. Seek emergency medical attention if you experience even mild symptoms, such as:

  • Feeling cold
  • Trouble breathing
  • Feeling dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or very weak

Before you take this drug

Riomet ER should not be used if:

  • Severe kidney disease
  • Metabolic acidosis or diabetic ketoacidosis requires medical intervention; contact your healthcare provider.

Riomet ER may be temporarily stopped if you are scheduled for surgery or any type of x-ray or CT scan that uses a dye injected directly into your veins. Tell your caregivers that you're taking this medication.

Inform your physician of any of the following issues:

Lactic acidosis is a buildup of dangerous lactic acids in your blood. You may be at greater risk if you suffer from other medical conditions, such as a severe virus or chronic alcoholism. How to take Riomet ER?
