What is Rhofade?

Rhofade shrinks blood vessels. Redness can be caused by dilated blood vessels under the skin.Rhofade can be used to treat facial redness due to rosacea.Rhofade can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Warnings

Rhofade should not be taken orally. Topical medicines are only to be used on the skin.If any medication comes into contact with your eyes, rinse with plenty of water immediately to wash it away.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to oxymetazoline, do not use Rhofade.

Tell your doctor about any of the following to ensure that Rhofade will be safe for you:

  • High blood pressure and heart disease
  • Blood circulation problems
  • Glaucoma;
  • A peripheral vascular disorder such as Raynaud syndrome, Buerger disease, scleroderma, or Sjogren syndrome.

Rhofade is not known to harm a baby in utero. Inform your physician immediately if you are expecting or planning on becoming pregnant.The topical oxymetazoline does not pass into breast milk. It is unknown if the drug could harm a nursing infant. Inform your doctor if breastfeeding is taking place.Anyone younger than 18 is not allowed to use Rhofade.

How to take Rhofade?

Follow the instructions on your prescription label. Please follow all the instructions on the prescription label. Use this medication only as directed. Do not exceed the prescribed dosage or take it for more than the required length of time.Take it only by mouth. Topical medicines are only to be used on the skin. This medicine should not be used on open wounds or irritated or inflamed skin. Rinse your eyes, nose, or mouth with water if this medicine has gotten into them.Rhofade should be applied thinly to the face. Avoid applying it near your mouth or eyes.After using this medication, wash your hands.You should read all the information provided, including medication guides and instructions. If you have questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.If your symptoms do not improve or worsen, call your physician immediately.Store away from heat and moisture at room temperature.

Details on dosage

Adult dosage for Acne Rosacea:

Once a day, apply a thin layer of cream to the face (forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin).
Comments:
Avoid applying it to the eyes and lips.
Patients should immediately wash their hands after applying the product.
Use: Topical treatment for persistent facial erythema caused by rosacea

What happens if I miss the dose?

As soon as you remember a missed dose, take it immediately. If it is almost time for another scheduled dosage, simply skip this missed one; extra medication shouldn't be taken to make up for an oversight.

What happens if I overdose?

Overdoses of oxymetazoline are not dangerous. Should anyone swallow medications accidentally, seek emergency medical assistance immediately or contact Poison Help immediately at 1-800-222-1222.

What should be avoided?

Do not get this medication in your mouth or eyes.

Side effects of Rhofade 

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction to Rhofade, seek immediate medical attention: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your lips, face, tongue, or throat.

If you experience:

  • Your rosacea symptoms will worsen.
  • You may experience numbness or tingling in your fingers and feet.
  • If you have pale or purple fingers or toes, this could be a sign of a serious condition.
  • Blurred vision, eye pain, or seeing halos around light

Rhofade can cause a variety of side effects.

  • Skin redness or itching
  • Pain;
  • Other skin reactions

Interaction with other drug

Other drugs, such as prescription and over-the-counter medicines, herbal products, vitamins, and supplements, may interact with oxymetazoline. Inform your healthcare providers of all medications you are currently taking and those you plan to start using.
