What is Phena-Plus?

Chlorpheniramine as well as pyrilamine can be used as antihistamines that can reduce the effects of the natural chemical histamine that is present in our body. Histamine may cause symptoms such as nasal congestion, itching, eye watering, and a dry nose. Phenylephrine can be described as a decongestant that shrinks blood vessels in nasal passages. The blood vessels that are dilated can cause nose congestion (stuffy nasal congestion).

Phena-Plus is a mix of medicines designed to treat congestion or a runny nose, as well as itching, sneezing, and eye watering, and sinus congestion due to allergies, as well as the typical cold and influenza. Phena-Plus can also be employed for other purposes that are not covered in this guideline.

Side effects of Phena-Plus

See a doctor immediately. If you are experiencing symptoms that indicate an allergic reaction, such as difficulty breathing, hives, or swelling of your lips, face, or tongue,

Phena-Plus could cause severe adverse effects. Stop using Phena Plus and call your physician immediately. If you suffer from:

  • Confusion, hallucinations;
  • Experiencing anxiety or feeling anxious;
  • Difficulty sleep;
  • Minimal or no urination
  • A seizure (convulsions);
  • Sensation of tingling or numbness;
  • The sensation of being lightheaded as you're about to pass out.
  • Beats of your heart, or fluttering around your chest.
  • Increased blood pressure, severe headache, blurred vision, and the pounding of your neck or your ears anxious nasal bleeding.

Some side effects are more prevalent in older adults.

Common adverse effects of Phena-Plus could include:

  • The feeling of nausea and constipation nausea, constipation
  • Itching or itching
  • An increase in the amount of sweat;
  • Dry mouth the nose, dry mouth, or throat;
  • Blurred vision
  • Headache, dizziness, or
  • Being anxious or restless (especially when it comes to children).

Warnings

This medication is recommended if you suffer from serious coronary artery diseases, diabetes, an overactive thyroid, asthma, pneumonia, or any other breathing issues. Don't take this medicine in the event that you've used an MAO inhibitor within the last 14 days, including linezolid, isocarboxazid or methylene blue injection, or phenelzine rasagiline and selegiline. Tranylcypromine. Avoid giving this medicine to a child who is less than six years old. The risk of death can be caused by the intoxication of cough and cold medications in children who are very young. It is not recommended to use antihistamine medication to make your child restless.

Prior to use this drug

Do not take Phena-Plus in the event that you've taken an MAO inhibitor within the last 14 days. A potentially dangerous interaction between drugs could occur. MAO inhibitors are isocarboxazid linezolid, methylene blue injection rasagiline, phenelzine, tranylcypromine, and others.

It is not recommended to use this medication if you have an allergy to chlorpheniramine, phenylephrine, or pyrilamine, as well as to any other decongestants, or are:

  • Serious coronary artery diseases
  • Diabetes;
  • Hyperactive thyroid or
  • Asthma, pneumonia, asthma, or other breathing issues.

Consult a physician or pharmacist to determine if it is safe to take this medication in the event that you suffer from:

  • The heart condition, also known as hypertension,
  • Blood circulation issues;
  • Glaucoma;
  • An ulcer or obstruction within the stomach.
  • Prostate enlarged;
  • Bladder obstruction or other problems;
  • A background of seizures

It is unclear if Phena-Plus could harm an unborn baby. Consult a physician before using this medication if you are expecting

Chlorpheniramine and phenylephrine, as well as pyilamine, may be found in the breast milk and cause adverse reactions in the nursing infant. Antihistamines may also reduce the production of breast milk. It is not recommended to breastfeed during treatment with this medicine.

How to take Phena Plus?

Take exactly as indicated on the label or as recommended by your physician. Avoid using in larger quantities, in smaller amounts, or for longer periods than recommended. Cold or cough medicine is typically taken for a short period of time until the symptoms subside.

Do not give this medicine to children younger than six years old. Always consult a physician prior to giving a child a cold or cough medicine. Death can occur because of the misuse of cold and cough medicines by very young children. It is not recommended to use antihistamine medications to make children tired. Don't crush, chew, or break an extended-release tablet. Take it in whole. Take measurements of liquid medicines using the dosing syringe that comes with it or using a specially designed measuring spoon or medicine cup. If you do not own an instrument for measuring doses, you can ask your pharmacist for one. Then shake the oral suspension (liquid) thoroughly just before measuring a dose.

Storage at room temperature is free of heat, moisture, and light. Don't allow the liquid medicine to cool down. Consult your physician if symptoms don't improve after seven days of medication or if you suffer from a fever, headache, cough, or an itch on your skin.

What happens if I miss the dose?

You should take the dose you missed as quickly as you can. Do not take any missed doses if it's nearing the time for the next dose. Do not take a second dose to make up for the missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

For medical emergencies, seek emergency medical attention or contact the Poison Help Line toll-free at 1-800-222-1222. Some signs of overdose consist of dry mouth, severe sleepiness and confusion, hearing ringing, shaking, seizures, dilation of the pupils, vomiting, and a loss of consciousness.

What should be avoided?

Phena-Plus could cause blurred vision and could affect your thinking or reactions. Be cautious when driving or engaging in activities that require that you be conscious and in a position to clearly see. Alcohol consumption with this medicine may cause unwanted side effects.

Consult a physician or pharmacist prior to using any other cough, cold, allergy, or pain medication. A lot of combination medications include decongestants and antihistamines. Combining certain medicines could result in you taking excessive amounts of these medications. Avoid exposure to the sun as well as tanning beds. This medication can cause burns more quickly. Protect yourself with protective clothes and wear sunblock (SPF 30 or greater) whenever you're outside

Interaction with other drugs

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist prior to using this medication if you're also taking other medicines that include prescription or over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal products. Certain medications can trigger unwanted or harmful effects when taken together. There are not all interactions mentioned in this guideline.

If you take this medicine in conjunction with other medications that cause you to sleep or cause breathing problems, it can increase the severity of these effects. Talk to your doctor prior to using Phena-Plus in conjunction with a sleep drug, a narcotic pain medication, or muscle relaxant medicines to treat anxiety, depression, or seizures.
