What is Midol IB?

Midol IB (NSAID) is a nonsteroidal, anti-inflammatory medication. Use Midol IB to treat inflammation and pain caused by several conditions, such as toothache or backache. Midol IB can be used by adults as well as children older than 6 months. This medication guide does not list all possible uses of Midol IB.

Side effects of Midol IB

If you experience symptoms of an allergy, such as hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling on your face and throat, or severe skin reactions like a fever, sore neck, burning eyes, or skin pain, or have a red, purple, or blistered skin rash, seek emergency medical attention. If any of these symptoms persist, seek emergency medical assistance immediately.

Midol IB may cause serious side effects. Midol IB should be stopped immediately, and you must call your doctor if:

  • Changes in your vision
  • Shortness of breath
  • Swelling or rapid weight gain
  • A skin rash is a rash on the body, regardless of how mild it may be.
  • Signs of stomach bleeding include bloody or tarry stool, vomiting that resembles coffee grounds, or coughing up blood.
  • Liver problems: nausea, upper stomach discomfort, fatigue, flu-like signs, loss of appetite, and dark urine or clay-colored stool, as well as jaundice.
  • Low red blood cells (anemia). Pale skin. Feeling lightheaded. Rapid heartbeat. Trouble concentrating.
  • Kidney problems include little or no urine, urination that is painful or difficult, swelling of the feet and ankles, fatigue, or feeling short of breath.

Side effects that may occur with Midol IB include:

  • Nausea, vomiting, gas;
  • Bleeding;
  • Dizziness, headache.

Warnings

Midol IB may increase the risk of a fatal stroke or heart attack. Midol-IB should not be used before or immediately after cardiac bypass surgery. The medicine can also cause fatal stomach and intestinal bleeding.

Before you take this drug

Midol IB may increase the risk of a fatal stroke or heart attack, even if there are no risk factors. This medicine should not be used before or immediately after a heart bypass (also known as a CABG or coronary artery bypass). Midol IB can also cause fatal stomach and intestinal bleeding. You may not be aware of these conditions if you use this medication, particularly if you're older. Midol IB should not be used if the user is allergic or if they have had severe reactions or asthma attacks after using aspirin, NSAIDs, or other NSAIDs.

If you've ever:

  • Heart condition, hypertension, cholesterol, or diabetes;
  • A heart attack, stroke, or blood clot.
  • Stomach ulcers and bleeding
  • Liver or kidney disease

Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you're pregnant or nursing. Do not take Midol IB if you are pregnant unless you have been told to by your doctor. NSAIDs can lead to serious kidney or heart problems for the baby, as well as pregnancy complications. Never give Midol IB without consulting a physician to children younger than six months.

How to take Midol IB?

Follow the directions on the package or those prescribed by your physician. Use the lowest effective dose to treat your condition.A Midol IB dose overdose may cause damage to your intestines or stomach. For adults, the maximum amount is 3200 milligrams, or 800 mg per dose.The dose for a child is determined by their age and weight. Follow the instructions on the package of children's Midol IB to the letter. If you have any questions, ask a pharmacist or doctor.Use Midol IB in conjunction with milk or food to reduce stomach upset.Before measuring a dosage, shake the orally suspended liquid. You can use the dosing device provided or a dose-measuring tool (not a spoon).The chewable tablet must be chewed before it can be swallowed.Keep the liquid medicine at room temperature, away from heat and moisture. Don't allow liquid medicines to freeze.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Midol IB can be used as needed, and you might not have a schedule. If it is almost time to take your next dose, skip any missed doses. Never take two doses in one go.

What happens if I overdose?

Call the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222 or seek emergency medical care. The symptoms of an overdose may include nausea and vomiting, stomach discomfort, sleepiness or black or bloody stool, shallow breathing, or fainting.

What should be avoided?

They may contain ingredients similar to Midol . These medicines may have ingredients that are similar to Midol IB, such as aspirin or ketoprofen. Aspirin should only be taken if your doctor recommends it. Midol IB may reduce the effectiveness of aspirin in protecting blood vessels and your heart if you are also taking aspirin for stroke prevention or heart attacks. Take this medication at least eight hours or thirty minutes before you take non-enteric-coated aspirin. Alcohol is harmful to your health.Alcohol may increase your risk of stomach bleeding.

Interaction with other drug

Before using Midol IB, ask your doctor if you are taking an antidepressant. Certain antidepressants may make you bruise easily or bleed more. Before using Midol IB in conjunction with other drugs, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

  • Cyclosporine;
  • Lithium;
  • Methotrexate;
  • A blood thinner, such as warfarin (coumadin), jantoven, or coumadin;
  • Heart or blood pressure medications, such as diuretics or "water pills,"
  • Steroid medicine (such as prednisone).
