What is Opcon A?

Naphazoline works as a vasoconstrictor. It reduces the redness of the eye by narrowing swollen vessels.Antihistamines reduce the effects of histamine, a natural chemical in the body. Histamine can cause symptoms such as itchy or watery eyelids.

The Opcon-A for the Eyes is intended to temporarily relieve minor eye redness and itching due to ragweed pollen grass, animal hair, or dander.Opcon-A can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Opcon-A

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: difficulty breathing, hives, swelling of your lips, face, tongue, or throat.

Opcon-A can cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Eye redness that persists or worsens
  • Eye pain
  • Changes in your vision

Side effects of Opcon A may include:

  • Mild burning or stinging in the eyes;
  • Blurred vision, dilated eyes,
  • Eyes are more sensitive to light.

Before you take this drug

Opcon-A should not be used if you have an allergy to naphazoline, pheniramine, or both.

If you have any other medical conditions or concerns, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether it's safe to take the medicine.

  • Urination problems can be caused by a number of factors.
  • Narrow-angle glaucoma.

Opcon-A is not known to harm unborn babies. If you are pregnant, do not take this medicine unless your doctor has prescribed it.

There is no way to know if naphazoline pheniramine eye drops pass into breast milk or if they could harm a baby who was nursing. If you are breastfeeding a child, do not take this medicine without consulting your doctor.Opcon-A shouldn't be given to children younger than six years without the doctor's approval.

How to take Opcon A?

Do not exceed the recommended dosage or duration. Use the recommended dose and do not exceed it.

If you use the medication too long or too frequently, it can worsen your symptoms. It may also damage your blood vessels.Before using eye drops, wash your hands.How to apply eye drops

  • To create a pocket, tilt your head slightly back and pull your lower eyelid down. The tip of the dropper should be pointing down. Squeeze out a few drops by looking up and away.
  • Close your eyes and press gently on the inside corner of your eye for approximately one minute to prevent liquid from draining into your tear duct.
  • Only use the recommended number of drops.

Avoid touching the tip or placing it directly on your eye. If the dropper is contaminated, it can cause serious vision problems.

If the liquid is discolored or contains particles, do not use it. For new medication, call your pharmacist.If your symptoms don't improve within 3 days, stop using the medicine and contact your doctor.Store away from heat, moisture, and light. When not in use, keep the bottle tightly shut.After the expiration dates of the medicine labels have passed, throw away the eyedrops.

What happens if I miss the dose?

You may not have a schedule for Opcon-A, as it is only used when necessary. If you have a regular schedule, take the missed dose as quickly as you can. If your next scheduled dosage is approaching, skip the missed dose. You should not take extra medicine to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Overdoses of Opcon A are not considered dangerous. If anyone accidentally swallows the medication, seek emergency medical care or call Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222.

Keep this medicine away from children. Some eye drops can cause serious health problems if a child accidentally swallows or sucks the medicine.

What should be avoided?

Use this medication only when you are not wearing contact lenses. Opcon-A contains a preservative that can discolor soft lenses. Wait 15 minutes after applying Opcon-A to your lenses before inserting them.

Interaction with other drug
