What is Naphcon-A?
Naphazoline can be described as a vasoconstrictor. It works by narrowing the swollen blood vessels in the eye to lessen the eye's redness.
Pheniramine can be described as an antihistamine drug that minimizes the effect of the chemical histamine that is naturally present within the body. Histamine may cause watery or itchy eyes.
Naphcon-A (for eyelashes) is a temporary remedy for minor irritations to the eye or irritation due to ragweed, grass, pollen, hair, or animal dander.Naphcon A may also be utilized for other purposes that are not covered in this guideline.
Side effects of Naphcon-A
See a doctor immediately. Get medical attention immediately if you notice symptoms that indicate an allergic reaction, such as hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of your lips, face, and tongue.
Naphcon A can cause severe adverse reactions. Do not use Naphcon-A and consult your physician immediately if you suffer from:
- Chronic or worsening redness in the eyes;
- Eye discomfort eye pain
- Shifts within your eyes.
Common adverse effects of Naphcon-A could be:
- Slight burning or stinging in the eye;
- Dilated pupils, blurred vision,
- The eyes are much more sensitive.

Warnings
Follow the directions on the medicine label and on the label of your package. Inform your healthcare professionals about your allergies, medical issues, and any other medications you take.
Before you take this drug
It is not recommended to take Naphcon-A if you have an allergy to pheniramine or naphazoline.
Speak with a physician or pharmacist to determine if it's safe to take this medication if you suffer from any medical conditions, such as:
- Heart disease, high blood pressure;
- Problems with urination
- Narrow-angle glaucoma.
It is unclear if Naphcon-A could harm an unborn baby. Do not take this medicine without consulting a physician's advice if you are pregnant.
It isn't known if naphazoline or pheniramine ophthalmic gets into breast milk or whether it can harm the baby who is nursing. Don't use this medication without consulting a physician's guidance if you're breast-feeding babies.
Naphcon A should not be given to children younger than six years old without a doctor's recommendation.
How to Take Naphcon-A?
Follow the directions on the label or as recommended by your physician. Don't use in greater than smaller quantities or for a longer time than is recommended.Utilizing the medicine excessively or for too long could aggravate your symptoms. It can also result in damage to the blood vessels within your eyes.
Cleanse your hands prior to using the drops for your eyes.
To apply drops to the eyes:
- Turn your head slightly back and then pull your lower eyelids to create a tiny pocket. Keep the dropper over the eye with the tip downward. Take a look at the sky and then away from your dropper. Then squeeze out the drop.
- Close your eyes, then gently push your fingers towards the inner eye's corner for around 1 minute to stop the tear from draining out of the tear drainage.
- Only use the number of drops suggested.
Don't touch the tip on the dropper for your eyes or put it directly in your eye. Drops that are contaminated can affect your eyes and cause severe vision issues.Don't use eye drops if the solution is changing colour or has particles present. Contact your pharmacist to inquire about the latest medication.
Stop taking this medication and contact your doctor if your symptoms don't improve after three days.Keep the bottle at room temperature, free of heat, moisture, and light. Close the bottle when not being used.
Dispose of the eye drops when the expiration date on the label has expired.
What happens If I miss a dose?
Because Naphcon-A is only used in times of need, it is possible that you are not following a regular dosing regimen. If you're following a routine, take the missed dose as quickly as you can remember. Do not take any missed doses if it's nearing the time for the next scheduled dose. Don't use any extra medication to make up for the missed dose.
What happens If I overdose?
A dose of Naphcon-A isn't likely to pose a risk. You should seek medical attention in an emergency or contact the Poison Helpline at 1-800-222-1222 if you have accidentally swallowed the drug.
Make sure this medicine is kept away from young children. Certain eye medications can trigger serious health problems for an infant who swallows or suckers medicine from an eye dropper.
What should be avoided?
Do not take this medication when using contact lenses. Naphcon A may contain a preservative that could alter the color of contact lenses. You should wait at least 15 minutes following the use of Naphcon-A before inserting contacts.
Interaction with other drugs
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist prior to using this medicine if you're taking any other medications, such as prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, or herbal products. Certain medicines may cause undesirable or even dangerous reactions when combined. There are not all interactions included in this guideline for medications.
