What is Mineral Ice?

The use of mineral ice on the skin is recommended for adults and children over 2 years old to temporarily relieve muscle pain or joint pain due to strains, sprains, or arthritis. Mineral Ice Powder is used for minor skin irritations such as scratches, burns, insect bites, and minor sunburns. Menthol is available in many different brands. This leaflet does not list all the available brands. Mineral ice can be used in other ways not mentioned in the medication guide.

Side effects of Mineral Ice

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergy reaction, seek immediate medical attention: difficulty breathing or swelling in your lips, face, throat, or tongue.

Mineral ice can cause severe side effects. Mineral ice should be stopped immediately, and you need to call your doctor if:

  • Experience pain, swelling, burning, redness, irritation or blisters after using mineral ice;
  • Joint pain that lasts more than 10 days

You may experience less serious side effects or none at all. There may be other side effects. For medical advice on side effects, call your doctor. Report adverse reactions by calling the FDA's hotline at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Before you take this drug

If you've ever experienced an allergic reaction or have sensitive skin, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether mineral ice can be used. Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you're pregnant or nursing. This medicine should not be given to children without consulting a doctor.

How to take Mineral Ice?

Follow the instructions on the packaging or those prescribed by your physician. Take it only by mouth. Topical medicines are only to be used on the skin. Use it only on the skin. Do not apply it to open wounds or damaged skin. Changes to brand, strength or form of medications could alter their dose requirements and may necessitate adjustments.Use the medication exactly as instructed on the package or as prescribed by your physician to avoid any mistakes. Hands should be washed before and after using this medication. Cleanse the area of skin to be treated with a mild detergent. Never use a heating device or bandage on treated skin unless you are told to by your doctor. Menthol may cause a mild burning or cold sensation. This should diminish over time as you continue to use it. This sensation can be very uncomfortable. Wash the affected area with water and soap if it is causing you discomfort. If your symptoms don't improve within 7 days or return after a short time, call your doctor. Keep tightly sealed at a cool temperature, away from heat and moisture. Keep away from heat and open flames.

What happens if I miss the dose?

When needed, mineral ice can be used.Follow a scheduled dosing regimen and you can avoid missed doses. Never use more than one dose at a time.

What happens if I overdose?

If anyone accidentally swallows the medication, seek emergency medical care or contact the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222.

What should be avoided?

Mineral ice should not be placed in the eyes, mouth, or nose. If this medication gets into your nose or mouth, rinse with water. Do not use other medicines on areas that you have treated with mineral ice unless your doctor has prescribed it.

Interaction with other drug

Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking, including prescription and over-the-counter medications. Inform your doctor of all the medications you are taking, including over-the-counter and prescription medicines, as well as vitamins and herbs.
