What is Lac-Hydrin 5?

Lac-Hydrin 5 can cause serious side effects. Lac-Hydrin 5 should be stopped immediately, and you should consult your doctor if:

  • After use, mild skin irritation or dryness may occur.
  • Discoloration or bruising on treated skin.

Before you take this drug

This medication should not be used if you have an allergy to ammonium, glycerin, mineral oils, or parabens.People with fair or sensitive skin are more susceptible to skin irritation caused by ammonium lactate.There is no information on whether Lac Hydrin 5 will harm an unborn child. If you plan to get pregnant while taking this medication, tell your doctor.Ammonium lactate topical does not pass into breast milk. It is also unknown if the product could harm a baby who is nursing. You should tell your doctor if your baby is breastfed.Lac-Hydrin 5, unless advised by a doctor, should not be given to children.

How to take Lac-Hydrin 5?

Ammonium lactate is typically applied twice daily. Use the product exactly as instructed on the label or by your doctor. Use the recommended dose and do not exceed it.Before using the lotion, shake it well.You should wash your hands both before and after using this medication, unless it is to treat an infection of the hand.You should not use ammonium lactate on your face without your doctor's permission.If your symptoms don't improve or worsen while taking Lac-Hydrin 5, call your doctor.Store away from heat and moisture at room temperature.

What happens if I miss the dose?

As soon as you realise that you have missed a dose, apply it as soon as possible. Wait until your next dose to take the medication, and do not use the missed dose. You should not take extra medicine to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Lac-Hydrin 5 is unlikely to cause an overdose.

What should be avoided?

Lac-Hydrin 5 is not to be taken orally. Lac-Hydrin 5 should only be applied to the skin. Lac-Hydrin 5 should not be used on wounds, sunburned skin, chapped or dry skin, or on irritated or inflamed skin. Rinse with water if this medication enters your eyes, nose, or mouth.

Interaction with other drug

Ammonium lactate applied topically is unlikely to be affected by other drugs taken orally or injected. Many drugs interact with each other. Inform your healthcare providers of all the medicines you take, including vitamins and herbal remedies.
