What is Jivi recombinant?

The clotting protein Jivi is found in blood. People who have haemophilia A are deficient in clotting factors VIII. This medicine is recombinant and replaces clotting factor VIII. The recombinant form of Jivi can be used to prevent or treat bleeding in children and adults with haemophilia.

Children with haemophilia A and no previous joint damage can benefit from recombinant Jivi. Recombinant Jivi should not be used to treat von Willebrand disease. Anyone younger than 12 is not allowed to use Jivi. This medication guide does not list all possible uses for recombinant Jivi.

Side effects of Jivi recombinant

If you experience any of the following symptoms, seek emergency medical attention: itching, swelling, burning, and stinging of the skin; hives; chest pain, tightness; wheezing; difficulty breathing; cold sweat; feeling faint; or pale, pale-coloured skin; a rapid heartbeat; lightheadedness; feelings of numbness; tingling of fingers, toes, and face; swelling in your lips, throat, and tongue; dizziness; nausea; dizziness; nausea; chest

There are serious risks associated with Jivi. If you experience:

  • Increased bleeding episodes
  • Any bleeding that won't stop
  • Chest pain;
  • Feeling dizzy, lightheaded or fainting are symptoms that should not be ignored.

Jivi can cause the following side effects:

  • Nose bleeds;
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea;
  • Headache, dizziness;
  • Joint or muscle pain
  • Rash;
  • Flushing (an intense feeling of warmth, redness or tingling);
  • Fever, chills;
  • Cough;
  • A weakness
  • Pain, swelling, itching or redness at the site of injection are symptoms to watch for.

Warnings

Follow all instructions carefully regarding how to store and mix Jivi. Storage instructions may vary between brands of Jivi recombinant. You may become immune to Jivi. This will make it less effective. If this medication seems less effective at controlling bleeding, call your doctor.

Before you take this drug

This medicine should not be used if your allergies include mouse, hamster, or jivi. If you have an allergy to beef protein, do not use recombinant.

If you've ever:

  • Heart Disease
  • A latex allergy;
  • If you've ever heard that you are an inhibitor of Factor VIII,

Inform your physician of any pregnant or nursing status.

How to take Jivi recombinant?

A blood test will be performed by your doctor to ensure that recombinant Jivi can treat the clotting deficiency. Read and adhere to all instructions or guides included with your medication. Follow the directions on your prescription label. Your doctor will occasionally adjust your dosage. Check the label's strength to make sure that you're using the right potency.

An injection of recombinant Jivi into the vein is administered. Your healthcare provider should provide your first dose and instruct you in its proper use. Please carefully read and heed all instructions that accompany your medication. Before using recombinant Jivi, it must be mixed in a liquid. If you are unsure of how to mix or store your medicine, ask your pharmacist.

Wash your hands thoroughly before you prepare and administer your injection. Prepare an injection when it is time to give it. If the colour of your medicine changes or if it contains particles, do not see it. For new medication, call your pharmacist. Weight is used to determine the dose of recombinant Jivi. Your dosage needs may change if you gain or lose weight.

Medical tests will be required frequently. You may become immune to Jivi, and it will be less effective. If Jivi is less effective at controlling bleeding, call your doctor. Refill your prescription before it runs out. When travelling, make sure to bring enough medication and injectables with you. Keep recombinant Jivi unmixed in its original packaging in the refrigerator. Never freeze. Remove the medication from the fridge and allow it to reach room temperature.

It is possible to store the unmixed Jivi at room temperature. However, it must never be returned to a refrigerator. Certain brands of medicine may only be kept at room temperature for a specific number of months or up to their expiration date. Follow all storage instructions carefully. Storage instructions may vary between brands of Jivi recombinant. Store away from bright lights. Use before the date of expiration printed on the label. Use the mixture within three hours after mixing it with the diluent. Keep the mixture out of the refrigerator and at room temperature. Every vial is only for one-time use. After one use, throw it out, even if the medicine is still inside.

Be mindful when using needles or syringes; only use it once before disposing of it safely in a sharps container, following local and state laws regarding how you must dispose of the container, keeping pets and children out of its reach. Wear or carry identification in case of an emergency to alert others that you suffer from a blood-clotting or bleeding disorder.

What happens if I miss the dose?

You may not have a regular schedule of dosages, as recombinant Jivi can be used only when necessary. You may have to take the medication for several consecutive days to stop bleeding. Continue to use the medication as prescribed, and inform your doctor if bleeding persists. Do not wait to take a missed dose. Never take two doses in one go.

What should be avoided?

If your doctor prescribes any restrictions on foods, drinks, or activities, follow their instructions.

Interaction with other drug

Jivi may be affected by other drugs, such as vitamins and herbal remedies. Inform your doctor of all the medicines you are currently taking and those that you will begin or stop using.
