What is Javygtor?

Javygtor lowers blood levels of phenylalanine for adults and children older than one month with certain types of PKU. Javygtor can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Javygtor

If you experience any of the following symptoms, seek emergency medical attention: hives (itching), rash, wheezing or coughing, difficulty breathing, nausea, lightheadedness, flushing or warmth, or tingling sensations.

Javygtor can cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Seizures or speech problems;
  • Nausea, stomach pain or discomfort, vomiting, severe stomach pain or discomfort, difficulty swallowing
  • Bloody or tarry stool, vomiting blood, or vomit that looks like coffee grounds
  • Hyperactive behaviour is characterised by excessive fidgeting, moving about, or talking.

Javygtor can cause the following side effects:

  • Headache;
  • Diarrhoea;
  • Vomiting; or
  • Coughing, sore throat, or a runny or stuffy nose

Warnings

Do not use it other than as directed. Inform your doctor of any other medications you are taking or if you have allergies or other medical conditions.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to Javygtor, it is best not to use it.

Tell your doctor about any of the following:

  • Stomach ulcer bleeding or
  • If you have a loss of appetite or are malnourished, this is a sign.

It is unknown if Javygtor can harm an unborn child. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. You may find your name on a registry for pregnant women to monitor the effects of sapropterin. Ask your doctor if you can safely breastfeed using Javygtor.

How to take Javygtor?

Read all the instructions or guides that come with your medication and follow the directions. Sometimes, your doctor will change the dose. You must take the medication exactly as prescribed.Javygtor may cause the phenylalanine level to drop too low in children who are younger than seven years of age.Take your medicine at the same time every day. The tablet can be swallowed whole or dissolved in water or apple cider (4 to 8 ounces).

  • You may see some small pieces floating in the liquid after a few moments. You can safely swallow these pieces.
  • After the tablet was dissolvd, stir the mixture thoroughly and drink the entire contents within 15 minutes.
  • Pour the full dose, pour a little water into the same glass. Swirl gently, and drink immediately.
  • You can also crush the tablet, and mix it in with a little soft food like pudding or applesauce.

The powder must be dissolved into 4-8 ounces water or apple cider.

  • You can dissolve the powder with as little as one teaspoon of apple juice or water if you're giving it to a child who is under 22 pounds. Use an oral syringe to administer the liquid. Ask your pharmacist if you don't have a syringe.
  • After the powder has dissolved, stir the mixture thoroughly and drink the entire contents within 30 minutes.
  • Mix the powder with soft foods such as applesauce or pudding.
  • Be sure that the powder has been completely dissolved prior to drinking or eating.

Weight is used to determine the dose for children and adolescents. If your child loses or gains weight, the dose may change. It may be necessary to follow a specific diet. You should follow the instructions given by your doctor or dietitian. Find out which foods you should avoid or eat. You may need to have frequent blood tests while using Javygtor. Store away from heat and moisture at room temperature. When not in use, keep the bottle tightly shut.

What happens if I miss the dose?

If you are almost due for your next dose, skip the missed one. Never take more than one dose in a single day.

What happens if I overdose?

Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention.

What should be avoided?

If your doctor prescribes any restrictions regarding food, beverage, or activity, follow their instructions.

Interaction with other drug

Tell your doctor if you are taking any other medications, including:

  • Levodopa;
  • Methotrexate, valproic acid, phenobarbital, trimethoprim, or
  • Medicine to treat impotence or pulmonary arterial hypertension: sildenafil (viagra, revatio), avanafil (stendra), tadalafil (adcirca, cialis), and vardenafil (levitra, staxyn).
