How to take Ionil T?

Do not exceed the recommended dosage or duration. Use the recommended dose and do not exceed it. Follow the instructions on the label to apply coal tar creams, lotions, ointments, or solutions. Coal tar cream, lotion, ointment, or solution can be applied up to four times per day. Pour 1 to 3 cups of coal tar oil into a warm bathtub before bathing. The oil may make the tub slippery. Avoid a slip.

Shake the shampoo with coal tar well before using. You should use enough shampoo to produce a rich lather. Massage the shampoo into your hair and scalp, then rinse well. Then, apply the shampoo again and let it sit on your scalp for 5 minutes. Rinse well. The shampoo can discolor blonde or coloured hair. This is a temporary effect.

Use coal tar sparingly on large areas of skin. Do not use the coal tar for long periods without consulting your doctor. Some types of coal tar may stain fabrics or other surfaces. If your symptoms don't improve or worsen while taking Ionil T, call your doctor. Store away from heat and moisture at room temperature. When not in use, keep the medicine tightly sealed.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Ionil T can be used as needed, and you do not need to follow a schedule. If you have a regular schedule, take the missed dose as quickly as you can. If your next scheduled dosage is approaching, skip the missed dose. You should not take extra medicine to compensate for a missed dose.

You should not combine coal tar with other psoriasis medication unless you have been told to by your doctor. Avoid getting ionil in your eyes. If this occurs, flush your eyes with water immediately.

Avoid using coal tar on the skin in your groin area or rectum. Avoid sunlamps and tanning beds. The coal tar in your skin can increase its sensitivity to the sun, and a sunburn could result.

Interaction with other drug

The application of coal tar topically is unlikely to be affected by other drugs that you may take orally or even inject. Many drugs interact with each other. Be sure to inform healthcare providers of all medications taken, including vitamins and herbal remedies.
