- Headache, dizziness, or

Before you take this drug
If you have an allergy to hylan G-F 20 or a skin infection around your knee, you should not use it.
Tell your doctor about any of the following to ensure that hylan G-F 20 will be safe for you:
- Blood clots in the legs or problems with circulation
- Allergy to Birds, Feathers, or Egg Products
There is no way to know if Hylan G-20 will harm an unborn child.Notify your doctor immediately if you are pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant, or hoping to conceive.There is no way to know if hylan G-20 passes into breast milk or if it can harm a baby who is nursing. Inform your doctor if a child is breastfed.Hylan G-F-20 is not recommended for anyone under the age of 21.
How to take Hylan F-20?
Hylan G-20 is injected into the knee joint. Healthcare providers will administer this injection.It is recommended that you receive three injections of the Synvisc Hylan F-20 brand. The synvisc-one hylan F-20 is only given once. The number of injections will be determined by your doctor.Your doctor may suggest that you rest your knee after the injection or apply ice to it for a few minutes.
Details on dosage
Adult dose for osteoarthritis:
21 years and older
Inject 16mg (2 mL) intra-articularly into the knee every week for three weeks.
Comments:
The aseptic technique must be strictly adhered to.
Remove synovial effusion or fluid using a needle of 18 to 22 gauge before each injection.
Use the same needle size (18- to 22-gauge) for both injecting the drug and removing the synovial fluid.
Use: To treat pain associated with osteoarthritis of the knee in patients who do not respond to nonpharmacologic treatment and simple anti-analgesics.
What happens if I miss the dose?
If you are unable to attend your appointment for a hylan G-20 injection, call your doctor.
What happens if I overdose?
Overdoses are unlikely because hylan GF-20 is administered by a health care professional in a medical environment.
What should be avoided?
Avoid jogging or strenuous activities for at least 48 hours after the injection. This includes high-impact sports like soccer or tennis. Avoid standing or doing any weight-bearing activities for more than an hour. You should ask your doctor for the recommended time before you can resume such activities.
Interaction with other drug
Other drugs, including vitamins and herbal products, may interact with hylan G-20. Inform your healthcare providers of all the medicines you are taking and those you plan to take.
