What is Hydrocil?

Hydrocil, a fiber-forming laxative, is used for occasional constipation and bowel irregularities.When combined with a low-cholesterol and saturated-fat diet, hydrocil can also lower cholesterol.This medication guide does not list all possible uses of Hydrocil.

Side effects of Hydrocil

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: difficulty breathing, hives, swelling of your lips, face, tongue, or throat.

Hydrocil may cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Constipation lasting more than seven days
  • Rectal bleeding
  • Severe stomach pain.

Some of the common side effects associated with hydrocil include:

  • Bloating
  • Minor changes in your bowel habits

Before you take this drug

If you've ever experienced an allergic reaction, then you shouldn't take Hydrocil.

If you have had any of the following:

  • Stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting;
  • Trouble swallowing
  • A sudden change in bowel habits lasting more than two weeks

This medication may contain sodium, sugar, or phenylalanine. If you suffer from diabetes, high blood pressure, or phenylketonuria, you should check the label of your medication.You may need a different dose during pregnancy or nursing.Don't give Hydrocil without consulting a doctor to children younger than six years of age.

How to take Hydrocil?

Follow the instructions on the label or those prescribed by your doctor.If laxatives are used frequently or for a long time, they can become habit-forming.If you do not take enough liquid with your hydrocil, it can cause swelling in the throat. To improve bowel health, drink plenty of water each day.Take Hydrocil along with 8 ounces of water or another liquid.Take Hydrocil capsules in one go.Before taking Hydrocil, you must mix the powder with liquid. The dry powder should not be swallowed. Mix the powder with 8 ounces or more of liquid, such as fruit juice or water. Mix and drink the mixture immediately. Pour a little water into the glass and swirl it gently. Drink immediately.Hydrocil produces a bowel motion within 12 to 72 hours.Hydrocil should not be taken for more than seven days without consulting a doctor. Too much laxative use can cause serious medical issues with your intestines.If your symptoms don't improve or worsen, call your doctor.The use of Hydrocil is often part of an overall treatment plan that includes exercise, diet, and weight management. You should follow your doctor's advice.Store away from moisture or heat. When not in use, keep the container tightly sealed.

What happens if I miss the dose?

You may not have a regular dosing regimen since Hydrocil can be used as needed. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip any missed dose. Never take two doses in one go.

What happens if I overdose?

What should be avoided?

When mixing, avoid breathing in dust. Inhaling the dust from this medicine may cause an allergy reaction.Avoid eating high-fat or cholesterol-rich foods if you are taking Hydrocil in conjunction with a treatment plan to lower cholesterol. Otherwise, your treatment may not be as successful.

Interaction with other drug

Hydrocil may make it more difficult for your body to absorb other medications you take orally, reducing their effectiveness. Take any oral medications 2 hours before taking this medicine or 2 hours afterwards.Hydrocil may be affected by other drugs, such as prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Inform your doctor of all the medicines you are currently taking and those that you will begin or stop taking.
