What is Hemofil M?
Hemofil-M is a naturally occurring blood protein that aids in blood clotting. Hemophilia is caused by a lack of the antihemophilic factor. This medicine temporarily increases the levels of factor VIII to help with clotting.Human hemofil M is used to prevent or treat bleeding episodes among people with hemophilia. It can also be used to control bleeding from surgery or dental work in people with hemophilia.The use of human hemofil M is not recommended for people with von Willebrand disease.This medication guide does not list all possible uses of Human Hemofil M.
Side effects of Hemofil M
If you experience any of the following symptoms, seek emergency medical attention: hives, wheezing or difficulty breathing, feeling light-headed, fainting, swelling of your lips, face, tongue, throat, etc.
Human hemofil M can cause serious side effects. If you experience:
- Feeling tingly in your ears, face, or arms?
- Headache; blurred vision; feeling jittery.
- Fever, chills, sleepiness, and then a skin rash followed by joint pain two weeks later.
- Nausea; vomiting; upper stomach pain (pain), loss of appetite (loss of appetite), dark urine (clay-colored stools); jaundice.
Hemofil M may cause the following side effects:
- The injection site may be swollen, itchy, or irritated.
- Chills;
- Mild nausea
- Allergic reaction

Some brands of Hemofil M for humans may specify that it should be stored in a fridge or at room temperature, but only for a limited number of months.
Before you take this drug
This medicine should not be used if you've ever experienced a severe reaction to Hemofil M or if your allergy to mouse proteins is strong.You must first be diagnosed with factor VIII deficiency before using human Hemofil M. This medicine is not effective in treating von Willebrand's disease.You may be asked by your doctor to get a hepatitis vaccine before using human Hemofil M.This medicine is not known to harm an unborn child.Inform your doctor immediately if you are pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant, or planning on becoming pregnant.It is unknown if human antihemophilic factors can pass into breast milk or if they could harm a baby who is nursing. You should tell your doctor if a child is breastfed.Some brands of Hemofil M are not recommended for anyone under the age of 18.If you have questions, don't hesitate to consult with either your physician or pharmacist.Human hemofil M is made of human plasma, which can contain viruses and infectious agents. How to take Hemofil M?
Do not exceed the recommended dosage or use Hemofil-M for longer than prescribed. Hemofil M should not be used in excess of or less than prescribed. Check the strength of your medicine on the packaging to ensure you're using the right potency.A vein is injected with human hemophilia M through an IV. It is possible that you will be taught how to use the IV at home. You should not administer this medication to yourself if you don't know how to inject the medicine and dispose of needles and IV tubing.You should read all the information provided, including medication guides and instructions. If you have questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.Wash your hands prior to preparing your injection and administering it.Human Hemofil M is a powder that must be mixed (diluted) with a liquid before use. You should know how to mix and store your injections if you use them at home.Use the mixture within 3 hours after mixing the medicine with the diluent. Mixed medicine should not be put in the refrigerator.
Only prepare your dose in the syringe when you're ready to inject yourself. The single-use vial can only be used once. This vial should be thrown away after measuring the dose, even if medicine is still left inside.If the color of human hemofil M has changed or if there are particles present, do not use it. For new medications, call your pharmacist.Only use a disposable syringe and needle once. Use a sharps container that is puncture-proof. Contact your pharmacist for the appropriate steps on where and how to acquire one and dispose of it. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of sharps in a container that is puncture-proof. This container should be kept out of the reach of pets and children.Check your pulse both before and after your injection. If you feel your pulse becoming rapid, stop or slow down the injection until it returns to normal.You may need to have frequent blood tests while using human Hemofil M.You may develop antibodies against Hemofil M, which will make it less effective. If this medication seems less effective at controlling bleeding, call your doctor.Follow all instructions on how to store the medicine. You may need to follow specific instructions for each brand of human Hemofil M.
The original container of the medicine and diluent should be kept in the fridge. Do not freeze. Take these items out of the fridge and let them reach room temperature before preparing your dosage.The medicine and diluent can be stored at room temperature up to the date of expiration printed on the label. This medicine may only be stored at room temperature for a limited number of months or until its expiration date.Do not put this medicine in the fridge if you have stored it at room temperature.Store this medicine away from bright lights. If the expiration date is past, throw away any remaining medicine or diluent.You can wear a medical alert tag or carry an identification card that states you have hemophilia. You should tell any doctor, dentist, or emergency medical provider that treats you about your bleeding disorder.
What happens if I miss the dose?
Sometimes human hemofil M is used as needed. You may not have a schedule. If you have a regular schedule, take the missed dose as quickly as you can. If your next scheduled dosage is approaching, skip the missed dose. You should not take extra medicine to compensate for a missed dose.

What should be avoided?
If your doctor prescribes any restrictions regarding food, beverage, or activity, follow their instructions.
Interaction with other drug
Other drugs, such as vitamins and herbal remedies, may also interact with human antihemophilic factors. Inform your healthcare providers of all the medicines you are taking and those you plan to take.
