What is Futibatinib?
Adults can use futibatinib to treat bile-duct cancer that has spread or is not able to be removed surgically.

You will be evaluated by your doctor to determine the type of tumor that needs futibatinib treatment. Futibatinib can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.
Side effects of Futibatinib
If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your lips, face, tongue, or throat.
Futibatinib can cause serious side effects. If you experience:
- Changes in your vision include blurred vision, flashes, or black spots.
- Muscle cramps
- You may experience a tingling or numbness around your mouth.
Futibatinib can cause a number of side effects, including:
- Symptoms of nausea and vomiting include vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, and loss of appetite.
- Dry mouth, skin, or eye
- Pain and burning when urinating;
- Tiredness or weakness
- Redness, swelling, blisters, or pain on your palms or soles;
- Joint or muscle pain
- Changes in your sense of taste;
- Change in the appearance or coloration of nails
- Hair loss;
- Abnormal lab tests;
- High blood sugar: increased thirst, frequent urination, and fruity breath odor;
- Low sugar -- headache; hunger; sweating; and irritability.
- Low blood potassium symptoms include leg cramps, constipation, and increased thirst or urination.
- High calcium levels can cause confusion, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, and constipation.
- Low blood sodium can cause headaches, memory problems, confusion, and weakness.
- Low blood cell counts can result in fever, chills and fatigue as well as mouth sores or skin sores. They may also lead to easy bruising or bleeding as well as pale hands and feet skin as well as feeling light-headed.

Warnings
Do not use it other than as directed. Inform your doctor of any other medications you are taking or if you have allergies or other medical conditions.
Before you take this drug
Tell your doctor if:
- Vision or eye problems
If either the mother or father uses futibatinib, it can cause harm to an unborn child.
- You may need to take a pregnancy test if you're a woman. Use birth control during treatment and for 1 week following your last dose.
- Use birth control if you're a man and your partner can get pregnant. Continue to use birth control at least one week after you have taken your last pill.
- Inform your doctor immediately if you become pregnant.
Do not breastfeed for 1 week after taking this medication.
How to take Futibatinib?
Read all the instructions or guides that come with your medication and follow the directions. Sometimes, your doctor will change the dose. You must take the medication exactly as it is prescribed. Take futibatinib at the same time every day, with or without eating. Do not chew or crush the tablet. Do not take another futibatinib dose if you vomit soon after taking it. Do not miss your next scheduled dose. If you experience certain side effects, your futibatinib treatment may be halted or delayed. Before you begin using futibatinib, you will need to visit an eye specialist every two months for the first six months. Then, you should see an eye doctor every three months after that. It may be necessary to follow a specific diet. You should follow the instructions given by your doctor or dietitian. Find out which foods you should avoid or eat. You will be required to have your blood tested while on futibatinib. Use artificial tear or lubricating gels for your eyes during futibatinib treatment. Store away from heat and moisture at room temperature.
Details on dosage
Adult dose for cholangiocarcinoma biliary tract:
Take 20 mg (5 mg tablets) orally, once a day.
Comments:
Confirm that there is a fusion of the FGFR2 genes or another rearrangement before starting treatment.
Treatment should be continued until the disease progresses or toxicities are unacceptable.
Use: Patients with unresectable, locally or metastatic advanced intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma that harbors fibroblast Growth Factor receptor 2 (FGFR2) gene fusions or other rearrangements.
What happens if I miss the dose?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. However, if the dose is more than 12 hours past its due date, skip the missed dose. Never take two doses of the same medicine at once.
What happens if I overdose?
Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention.
What should be avoided?
Grapefruit can interact with futibatinib, causing side effects. Avoid consuming grapefruit products.
Interaction with other drug
Tell your doctor what other medications you are taking, including:
- Itraconazole;
- Rifampin.
