What is FML S.O.P.?

FML S.O.P. (for the eye) is a steroid medication used to treat inflammation of the eyes caused by surgery or injury. FML S.O.P. This medication guide may be used to treat other conditions not mentioned.

Side effects of FML S.O.P.

In case of an allergic reaction, seek medical assistance immediately: hives, difficulty breathing, lip, face, tongue or throat swelling and difficulty with swallowing are some signs to look out for.

FML S.O.P. can cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Pain behind your eyes, sudden vision changes;
  • Slow healing after eye surgery
  • Eye pain, tunnel vision, or seeing halos around light
  • Signs of a new eye infection include swelling, drainage, or crusting.

FML S.O.P. Common side effects of FML S.O.P.

  • You may experience mild burning or stinging in your eyes.
  • Feeling there's something in your eyes
  • Red or puffy eyelids
  • Blurred vision
  • Drooping eyelids.

Warnings

FML S.O.P. should not be used if you have any type of bacterial, fungal, or viral infection (including herpes). If you have any type of bacterial, fungal, or virus infection in the eye (including herpes), then do not use FML S.O.P.

Before you take this drug

You should avoid using fluorometholone if it is allergic to you or if you have any kind of eye infection (including herpes), whether bacterial, viral, or fungal.

Inform your doctor of any of the following issues:

  • Glaucoma;

How to take FML S.O.P.?

RRead all instructions or guides that come with your medication, and follow all directions outlined on its label. Before using eye medications, always wash your hands. Before each use, be sure to give the eye drops a thorough shake before administering them. Use eye drops by tilting your head slightly back and pulling down on your lower eyelid, then use a dropper to dispense some drops into a pocket created around each eyeball, before closing them for at least 1 or 2 minutes to allow any medication to absorb into your system. Use only the specified number of drops. Only use eye drops specifically formulated to use with soft contact lenses such as FML S.O.P, as they contain preservatives which could permanently stain them. Be sure to take the medication at least 15 minutes prior to inserting your lenses for best results. Apply ointment by pulling down your lower eyelid and tilting back your head slightly, creating an eye pocket in which to squeeze a thin ribbon of ointment from its tube. Close your eye for up to 2 minutes after blinking gently before using tissue wipe off any extra product from around your eyelids.

Avoid placing eye dropper, ointment and tube tips directly in or onto your eye as this could introduce harmful pathogens that lead to eye infections that lead to vision problems. If your symptoms do not improve after two days of treatment, consult with a medical provider immediately. Depending on how long you take this medication, vision tests may need to be administered regularly for at least the next 10 days. Store at room temperature away from moisture or heat and close tightly when not being used. When not being stored for use, always close tightly the tube or bottle in its packaging to preserve quality of ingredients and extend shelf life. Do not abruptly discontinue this medication without consulting with your healthcare provider first, who may provide specific dosage instructions.

What happens if I miss the dose?

If it is almost time for your next dose, skip any missed ones and do not double up on medication at once.

What happens if I overdose?

What should be avoided?

Avoid driving and doing any activity that requires clear vision. For a brief period, your vision may be blurred. FML S.O.P. cannot be shared with another person, even if they have the same symptoms as you. Do not share FML S.O.P. with anyone else, even if you both have the same symptoms.

Interaction with other drug

Other drugs you take should not have an impact on the medicine prescribed to your eyes; however, many drugs interact with each other and it's best to inform your healthcare provider of all medications taken (prescription, over-the-counter medicines and herbal products alike).
