What is FML Forte Liquifilm?

FML Forte Liquifilm is a steroid medication used to treat inflammation of the eye caused by surgery or other conditions. FML Forte Liquifilm can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of FML Forte Liquifilm

Symptoms of an allergic reaction include hives, difficulty breathing and swelling of lips, face, tongue or throat. Seek medical assistance immediately if any of these occur.

FML-Forte Liquifilm may cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • pain behind your eyes, sudden vision changes;
  • Slow healing after eye surgery
  • Eye pain, tunnel vision, or seeing halos around light
  • Signs of a new eye infection include swelling, drainage, or crusting.

Some of the common side effects associated with FML Forte Liquifilm include:

  • You may experience mild burning or stinging in your eyes.
  • Feeling like there is something in your eye
  • Red or puffy eyelids
  • Blurred vision
  • Drooping eyelids.

Warnings

FML Forte Liquifilm should not be used if you suffer from any type of bacterial or fungal infection in the eye, including herpes.

Before you take this drug

If you have a bacterial, viral, or fungal infection in your eye (including herpes), you should not use fluorometholone.

Inform your physician of any of the following issues:

  • Glaucoma;

FML Forte Liquifilm is not known to harm a baby in utero. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant. This medicine should not be used while breastfeeding. FML Forte Liquifilm is not recommended for children younger than two years of age.

How to take FML Forte Liquifilm?

Read and follow all instructions or guides provided with your medication.Follow the directions on the label. Before using eye medications, wash your hands. Before each use, shake the eye drops well. Use the eye drops by tilting your head slightly back and pulling down your lower eyelid. Squeeze a few drops into the pocket created by holding the dropper over the eye. Close your eyes for a minute or two. Only use the prescribed number of drops. Use eye drops only when wearing soft lenses. FML Forte Liquifilm contains a preservative that could permanently stain lenses. Use the medication at least 15 minutes prior to inserting your contacts. Apply the ointment by pulling down your lower eyelid and tilting your head slightly back. In this pocket, squeeze a small ribbon of ointment out of the tube. Keep your eye closed for a minute or two after you blink gently. Use a tissue to wipe off any excess ointment. Avoid touching the tip of an eye dropper, ointment, or tube directly or placing it on your eye. The tip of a contaminated tube can cause serious vision problems.

If your symptoms don't improve after two days of treatment, call your doctor. You may need to have frequent vision tests if you take this medication for more than 10 days. Store away from moisture or heat at room temperature. Store at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. When not in use, keep the tube or bottle tightly closed. Do not suddenly stop taking this medication. You should follow your doctor's instructions regarding the dosage.

What happens if I miss the dose?

If you are almost due for your next dose, skip the missed dosage. Never take two doses of the same medicine at once.

What happens if I overdose?

Overdoses of FML Forte Liquifilm are not considered dangerous. If anyone accidentally swallows the medication, seek emergency medical care or call Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222.

What should be avoided?

Avoid driving and doing any activity that requires clear vision. For a brief period, your vision may be blurred. FML Forte Liquifilm should not be shared with anyone else, even if the other person has the same symptoms as you.

Interaction with other drug

Other drugs that you take are unlikely to affect the medicine used on your eyes. Many drugs interact with each other. Inform your healthcare provider about the medicines you take, including vitamins and herbal remedies.
