What is Fluocinonide-E?

Fluocinonide, a powerful steroid, prevents substances from being released in the body that cause inflammation. The skin fluocinonide E is used for the treatment of inflammation and itching due to plaque-psoriasis, or skin conditions that respond to steroids. Fluocinonide E may be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Fluocinonide-E

IIf you experience symptoms indicative of an allergic reaction, such as hives, difficulty breathing and/or swelling of lips, face, tongue or throat; seek medical assistance immediately.

Fluocinonide-E may lead to serious adverse side effects. If any such incidents arise, such as:

  • Skin conditions are worsening;
  • Possible signs of fluocinonide E absorption through the skin include weight gain, especially in your face, upper back, and torso, and slow wound healing. Other symptoms may include muscle weakness and diarrhea.

Steroids can have an impact on the growth of children. If your child's growth isn't normal while taking this medication, tell your doctor.

Fluocinonide E may cause the following side effects:

  • The skin may feel dry, irritated, or sting.
  • Redness or crust around the hair follicles.
  • Stretch marks;
  • Spider veins;
  • Acne;
  • Lightened skin color;
  • Headache;
  • Sore throat.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to fluocinonide E, then it is best not to use this product.

Inform your physician of any of the following issues:

  • Any type of skin infection
  • An adverse skin reaction to any medication containing steroids;
  • Liver disease
  • An adrenal gland disorder is a condition that affects the adrenal glands.

Steroid medications may increase glucose levels in both your blood and urine, so be sure to inform your healthcare provider if you suspect an increase. If you have diabetes, alert them right away! Fluocinonide E is not known to harm unborn babies; therefore it is wise to inform your healthcare provider if you become pregnant during or planning to become pregnant while using this drug. Breastfeeding may not be possible while taking this medication. You should ask your doctor if there are any risks. Avoid areas where the mouth of a baby may be in contact with fluocinonide if you apply it to your chest. This medicine should not be given to children without medical advice. Children aged under twelve should not take this medicine. Children may experience adverse side effects due to increased skin absorption from this medication.

How to take Fluocinonide-E?

Read and follow all instructions or guides provided with your medication, such as reading the label instructions. Topical medicines must only be applied directly to your skin; do not apply it anywhere else such as open wounds, sunburned or windburned areas, dry, irritated or cracked patches of skin or open wounds. In case any medicine accidentally gets into your eyes or mouth, rinse with water immediately to get rid of any residues from this medication. Fluocinonide should only be used to treat your skin. Apply a thin layer to the affected area. Do not spread this medicine over large surfaces without first consulting with your physician. Cover any treated area only on advice of your physician; covering can increase absorption rates and have adverse side effects. Use only loose-fitting or plastic diapers if treating the diaper area. Apply the medication directly to your scalp and massage it gently into its surface, waiting until all of it has settled before washing or massaging the scalp again. Don't wash or rub immediately following application as that could disrupt its effectiveness and delay its drying completely.

 

If after two weeks of treatment your symptoms do not improve or worsen, reach out to a physician immediately. Inform your physician if you are taking this medication and require surgery. Fluocinonide should not be abruptly discontinued, rather you should follow your physician's recommendations regarding dose reductions. Store at room temperature away from moisture or heat and in an area without humidity or draft.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Unless it is close to time for another dose, do not administer two at the same time.

What happens if I overdose?

If someone accidentally swallows their medication, immediately seek emergency medical assistance or call Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222 for advice. Fluocinonide E can cause thinning of the skin, bruising easily, changes in body weight (especially on your neck, face, back, and waist), acne, facial hair growth, menstrual issues, impotence, or a loss of interest in sexual activity.

What should be avoided?

Avoid getting fluocinonide E in your eyes. Rinse with water if you do. Do not apply this medication to the face, scalp, underarms, or groin. Use fluocinonide E only after consulting your doctor to determine the severity of any skin conditions. Do not use other topical steroids on areas that you have treated with fluocinonide unless you are told to by your doctor.

Interaction with other drug

Your medication for your skin shouldn't be affected by other drugs you take.Many drugs interact with each other. Inform your healthcare provider about the medicines you take, including prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
