The long-term use of steroids can cause the loss of bone (osteoporosis), especially when you smoke, if you are not active, do not have sufficient calcium or vitamin D in your daily diet, or have an ancestral history of osteoporosis. Discuss your risk with your doctor. Inform your physician if you are expecting. It isn't known if fluticasone could affect a baby who is not yet born. If asthma is not treated or controlled during pregnancy, it could result in complications such as low birth weight, premature birth, and the condition known as eclampsia (dangerously high blood pressure, which can cause medical issues in the mom and child). The advantages of treating asthma can outweigh the risks to the infant. It is not recommended to breastfeed while taking this medication. Consult your physician about any potential risks. Don't give the medication to an infant without consulting a doctor.
