Fe-Vite Drops

What is Fe-Vite Drops?

Fe-vite drops are a form of iron. Iron is normally obtained from food. Iron helps the blood transport oxygen to the organs and tissues in your body. It also helps muscle cells retain oxygen. Fe-Vite Drops are used to treat an iron deficiency. Fe-Vite drops can be used in other ways not mentioned in the medication guide.

Side effects of Fe-Vite Drops

If you experience symptoms such as difficulty breathing, hives, swelling to lips, face throat or tongue then these could all indicate allergies.

Fe-Vite drops can cause severe side effects. If you experience:

  • Severe stomach pain or nausea
  • Cough bloody or puke-like vomit;
  • Fever;
  • Bloody or tarry stool.

Fe-Vite drops may cause the following side effects:

  • Diarrhea, constipation;
  • Nausea, stomach pain;
  • Green-colored stools;
  • Loss of appetite

Warnings

Do not use it other than as prescribed. Inform your doctor of any other medications you are taking or if there is a medical condition or allergy.

Before you take this drug

If you've ever:

  • Iron overload syndrome
  • A disorder of the red blood cells, such as thalassemia.
  • A condition that requires regular transfusions of blood.

Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you're pregnant or nursing. Don't give Fe-Vite drops without consulting a doctor.

How to take Fe-Vite Drops?

Follow the instructions on the packaging or those prescribed by your physician. Do not eat for at least an hour or two hours before you take the pill. Measuring liquid medication is important. Dosing devices are available, but not spoons. Do not chew or crush the tablets. It may be necessary to adhere to a specific diet. You should follow the instructions given by your physician or dietitian. Find out what foods to eat and which ones you should avoid. Keep away from heat and moisture. Store at room temperature.

What happens if I miss the dose?

If you are almost due for the next dose, skip the missed one. Be careful never to take more than one dose at once.

What happens if I overdose?

Call the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222 or seek emergency medical care. If a child accidentally swallows a tablet, call 911. A child can die from an iron overdose. Overdose symptoms include nausea, vomiting, bleeding, diarrhea, and blood. Other signs may be dry skin, cramps in the muscles, fainting, or

What should be avoided?

Other iron supplements should be avoided. Take no vitamin or mineral supplement without consulting your doctor or pharmacist.

Interaction with other drug

Fe-Vite drops should be taken 2–6 hours prior to or 6–8 hours after the following medications:

  • An antacid;
  • Anti-biotic
  • A laxative.
