Generic name: Amphetamine (pronounced am-FET-ah-meen).
Drug class: CNS stimulants

What is Evekeo?

Evekeo, a stimulant medication, is used in the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder( ADHD) among children. Some brands of amphetamine can be used by children aged 6 and older. Evekeo is safe for children as young as 3 years of age.Evekeo can also be used to treat narcolepsy in adults and in children aged at least six years. It is also used for obesity among adults and in children aged at least twelve who haven't lost weight through diets and other treatments.Evekeo ODHT can only be used to treat ADHD in children older than 6 years.Evekeo can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Evekeo

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your lips, face, tongue, or throat.

Evekeo can cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Signs of heart disease include chest pain, difficulty breathing, and the feeling that you may pass out.
  • Psychosis symptoms include hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that are not real), new behavior problems, aggression, hostility and paranoia;
  • Signs of circulation problems: numbness, pain or coldness in the fingers or toes, unexplained injuries, or changes in skin color (pale, blue, or red appearance).
  • A seizure (convulsions);
  • Muscle twitches or tics
  • Increased blood pressure or heartbeat
  • Changes in your vision

Serotonin syndrome symptoms include: hallucinations and agitation; fever; sweating or shivering; rapid heartbeat; muscle stiffness; and twitching. Loss of coordination.Evekeo can affect the growth of children. If your child's growth isn't normal while taking Evekeo, tell your doctor.

Some of the common side effects associated with Evekeo include:

  • Increased heart rate
  • Feeling anxious or restless is a mood change.
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Constipation, stomach pains, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
  • Loss of appetite Weight loss
  • Sexual problems (impotence among males);
  • Headache, dizziness,

Warnings

Stimulants can cause strokes, heart attacks, and sudden deaths in people who have high blood pressure or heart disease.Evekeo should not be used if MAO inhibitors have been taken in the last 14 days. A dangerous drug interaction may occur. MAO inhibitors are isocarboxazid (linezolid), methylene blue injection, phenelzine, and tranylcypromine.Evekeo can become addictive. Before you take this drug

Evekeo should not be used if you're allergic to stimulants or have taken MAO inhibitors in the last 14 days. These include isocarboxazid injection, linezolid injection, methylene blue injection, phenelzine, or tranylcypromine.

Evekeo may not work for you if:

  • Heart disease can cause chest pain and breathing problems.
  • Hardening of the arterial walls
  • High blood pressure, moderate to severe
  • Overactive thyroid
  • A history of drug abuse
  • If you feel agitated,

Stimulants can cause strokes, heart attacks, and sudden deaths in some people. Inform your doctor if:

  • Heart problems or a congenital heart defect;
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • A family history of sudden death or heart disease

Tell your doctor about any of the following:

  • Mental illness; bipolar disorders; or thoughts or actions that are suicidal.
  • Problems with alcohol or drug abuse
  • Tourette syndrome or motor tics (muscle twitches)
  • A thyroid disorder
  • Seizures or epilepsy;
  • An abnormal brain wave test (electroencephalogram; eeg);
  • Coronary artery disease
  • Blood circulation problems in the hands or feet
  • Kidney disease is a serious condition.

Inform your doctor immediately if you plan to get pregnant. Evekeo taken during pregnancy can increase the risk of premature births or low birthweight. Your name could be added to a registry if you're pregnant in order to track amphetamine effects on the child.Breastfeeding is not recommended.

How to take Evekeo?

Read all the instructions or guides that come with your medication and follow the directions. Sometimes, your doctor will change the dose. You must take the medication exactly as prescribed.Evekeo can be addictive. Misuse may lead to addiction, death, or overdose. Sell or give away Evekeo.Use this medication only as prescribed.Evekeo can be taken with or without food.If you are unable to swallow, Dyanavel XR can be chewed.Shake the suspension. Use the measuring device provided (not a spoon).Only when you're ready to take the medicine should you remove the tablet with dry hands from its package. Allow the tablet to dissolve without chewing.If you change the brand, strength, or form of a medicine, your dose requirements may be different. Use only the medication prescribed by your doctor to avoid medication mistakes.Your doctor may require medical tests to test your heart function. Inform any doctor that you use this medication.Keep this medicine at room temperature, away from heat and moisture.Don't keep any leftover medication. Talk to your pharmacist about the drug take-back programs. In a sealed bag, mix leftover medication with coffee grounds or cat litter. Then throw it in the garbage.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Do not wait until the evening to take the missed dose. If it's almost evening, skip the missed dose. Take only one dose at a time.

What happens if I overdose?

Call the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222 or seek emergency medical care. Overdoses can be deadly.Overdose symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle pain, restlessness, tremors, rapid breathing, hallucinations, and panic. Depression and fatigue may follow these symptoms. A severe overdose can also cause seizures or a coma.

What should be avoided?

Evekeo should not be taken with fruit juices, such as cranberry or vitamin C. Avoid drinking alcohol. Avoid dangerous activities until you understand how Evekeo will affect you. Your reaction time could be affected.

Interaction with other drug

Some medicines can cause side effects or make the medicine less effective. Ask your doctor before taking stomach acid medicines (including Alka Seltzer and sodium bicarbonate). Some of these medications can alter the way that your body absorbs Evekeo, which may lead to increased side effects.

Inform your doctor of all the medications you are taking. Evekeo is affected by many drugs, including:

  • Antidepressants, including desipramine, protriptyline, paroxetine, and fluoxetine;
  • Lithium, or another medicine for treating depression or mental illness.
  • Blood pressure medicine;
  • A blood thinner (warfarin coumadin jantoven);
  • Cold or allergy medication that contains decongestants;
  • Opioid (narcotic) medicine;
  • Seizure medicine.
