What is Elitek?

Elitek is used to control levels of uric acid in children and adults taking treatment for cancer. treatments to treat leukemia, lymphoma, and other tumors.Elitek can also be used to treat conditions that are not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Elitek

Seek medical attention immediately in the event that you exhibit indications that indicate an allergic reaction, which include hives, rash, wheezing or chest pain, difficulty breathing, and feeling lightheaded. You may also experience swelling of your lips, face, or tongue.

Inform your caregivers or contact your doctor immediately. If you suffer from:

  • Skin that is pale, yellowed, or dark colored
  • White patches or sores in and around the area of your mouth. Problems speaking or swallowing; dry mouth bad breath, a change in perception of taste
  • Fever, flu symptoms, heart rate rapid or breathing, shallow and rapid, fainting; or
  • Signs of serious blood disorders: blue-tinged skin or lips, headache, feeling weak or tired, difficulty breathing, an imminent fear of passing out, rapid heartbeats or chest flutterings.

The treatment you receive with Elitek can be stopped permanently in the event of a severe allergic reaction.Common negative side effects of Elitek could include:

  • Nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain;
  • Diarrhea, constipation;
  • Anxiety;
  • Headache;
  • Abnormal tests for liver function or decreased levels of phosphate;
    throat pain;
  • Fever
  • Swelling of your feet or hands.

Warnings

It is not recommended to take Elitek. If you've ever suffered the reaction of an allergic reaction or had blood cell issues after receiving Elitek, or if you suffer from an enzyme defect that is genetic, known as glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency,Take immediate medical care. If you notice symptoms or warning signs of an allergic response that include wheezing, hives, or chest tightness and pain or difficulty breathing; feeling lightheaded or swollen cheeks, mouth, lips, tongue, or throat,Notify your caregivers or contact a medical provider immediately if you experience signs of serious blood disorders: blue-colored lips or skin, headache, feeling weak or tired, difficulty breathing, feeling like you might pass out, rapid heartbeats, or chest discomfort.

Before you take this drug

This medication should only be used under certain circumstances:

  • You've had allergies or blood cell problems following the use of Elitek. You have never experienced an allergic reaction or blood cell problems after receiving Elitek.
  • You have an enzyme deficiency known as glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (G6PD).

If you're of African or Mediterranean descent, your physician might run blood tests to confirm that you don't have any health issues that make it impossible for you to receive Elitek.Elitek can cause harm to a baby who is not yet born. Use effective birth control to stop pregnancy and notify your physician if you are pregnant.Don't breastfeed while taking this medication and at least two weeks following the last dose.Elitek is not a product that has been approved for use by anyone less than one month old.

How to take Elitek?

Elitek is administered as an infusion into the vein. The healthcare provider will offer the injection.Elitek should be administered slowly, and infusions can take a minimum of 30 minutes to finish.The treatment is typically given every day for up to five days. Follow the instructions of your physician for dosage extremely carefully.If you are using Elitek, it is possible that you will require periodic blood testing.This medication can alter the results of some medical tests. Be sure to inform any doctor treating your condition that you're using Elitek.

Other medications could influence Elitek. Other medications can affect it, such as prescription and OTC medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Discuss with your physician all the medicines you are currently taking as well as any medications you are about to start or stop taking.
