What is Dimethicone and triamcinolone topical?

Dimethicone moisturizes the skin. Triamcinolone steroid. The skin is treated with dimethicone (for chapped skin). Triamcinolone is used for the treatment of inflammation and itching due to skin conditions that respond to steroids. This medication guide does not list all possible uses for dimethicone or triamcinolone.

Side effects of Dimethicone and triamcinolone topical

If you experience difficulty breathing, hives or swelling of lips, face, throat or tongue - any of the following could indicate an allergy: difficulty in taking breathers; difficulties swallowing food or drinks, swelling lips face throat tongue

Triamcinolone and dimethicone topicals can cause severe side effects. If you experience:

  • Skin Infection
  • Skin conditions are worsening;
  • Redness, heat, swelling, oozing, or severe irritation on any skin treated
  • Blurred vision, pain in the eyes, or seeing halos around lights
  • Dry mouth and fruity breath smell;
  • Possible signs that you have absorbed dimethicone or triamcinolone through your gums or skin include: weight gain, especially in the face, upper back, and torso; slow wound healing; and discolored skin. Other symptoms may include muscle weakness, diarrhea, and nausea.

This medicine can be absorbed more easily by children through their skin. They may experience side effects like headaches or eye pain. This medicine can cause a soft spot on the top of the baby's head (where the skull is not yet fused together).

Dimethicone topical and triamcinolone may cause the following side effects:

  • The skin may be irritated by burning, itching, or dryness.
  • Redness around the hair follicles.
  • Redness around the mouth or itching;
  • Allergic skin reactions
  • Stretch marks;
  • Acne, which causes increased hair growth on the body;
  • Skin discoloration or thinning;
  • The skin appears white, or even "pruned", when it is covered with tight bandages or another covering.

Warnings

Do not use it other than as prescribed. Inform your doctor of any other medications you are taking or if there is a medical condition or allergy.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to dimethicone or triamcinolone, then it is best not to use them. If you have an allergy to silicone, do not use soft silicone tape.

If you've ever:

  • Any type of skin disease
  • A skin reaction after taking steroid medication;
  • Liver Disease
  • An adrenal gland disease is a disorder.

Steroids can cause sugar levels to increase in the blood and urine. Inform your doctor that you suffer from type 2 diabetes. Inform your doctor whether you're pregnant or nursing. Avoid areas where the mouth of a nursing infant may be in contact with your chest when applying topical dimethicone or triamcinolone. Avoid applying topical dimethicone or triamcinolone to children without consulting a doctor.

How to take Dimethicone and triamcinolone topical?

The kit contains dimethicone and triamcinolone topical creams, as well as a silicon tape to keep it in place. Read all the instructions or guides that come with your medication and follow all the directions. Follow the directions on your prescription label. Please read and adhere to all directions for use that come with your medication, if unsure please ask either your pharmacist or physician for clarification. Rub a thin layer on the affected skin. You should not use this medication to cover a wide area of the skin unless you have been told by your doctor. Take it only by mouth. Topical medicines are only to be used on the skin. Use dimethicone topical and triamcinolone to wash your hands after use, except if you're using it on the hands. Cover the area of skin that has been treated only if your doctor says so. The amount of medication absorbed by your skin can be increased if you cover the treated area. This may have harmful side effects. As directed by your physician, use the silicone tape. After 24 hours, remove the silicone tape, clean the affected area, and then replace the old one.

Use only loose-fitting plastic diapers when treating the diaper area. If your symptoms don't improve or worsen, call your doctor. Do not abruptly stop using topical triamcinolone and dimethicone. You should follow your doctor's advice about reducing your dosage. Keep away from heat and moisture. Store at room temperature.

Details on dosage

Adult dose for dermatological disorders:
Apply thin films to the affected area from 2 to 3 times per day, depending on the severity.
Comments:
If infection occurs, discontinue the use of the occlusive bandage and begin appropriate treatment.
Uses: Corticosteroid-sensitive dermatoses manifesting with inflammation and pruritus may benefit from relief with this product.
The usual pediatric dose for dermatological disorders:
Apply thin films to the affected area from 2 to 3 times per day, depending on severity.
Comments:
If infection occurs, discontinue the use of this dressing and begin appropriate treatment.
Use the lowest amount that is compatible with an effective therapy regimen.
The use of corticosteroids in children can interfere with their growth and development.
Uses: Corticosteroid-sensitive dermatoses manifesting with inflammation and pruritus may benefit from relief with this product.

What happens if I miss the dose?

If it is close to time for your next dose, skip any dose you missed and don't attempt two at the same time.

What happens if I overdose?

If anyone accidentally swallows the medicine, seek emergency medical care or contact the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222. The use of steroids in high doses can cause thinning of the skin or bruising. It may also lead to changes in body weight (especially on your neck, face, back, and waist), acne, facial hair growth, menstrual issues, impotence, or a loss of sexual interest.

What should be avoided?

Do not get triamcinolone or dimethicone topical into your eyes. If your doctor has not instructed you otherwise, do not use other topical steroids on areas treated with triamcinolone and dimethicone topical. Use dimethicone or triamcinolone as topical treatment only after consulting your physician. This medicine should not be shared with anyone else, even if the other person has similar symptoms.

Interaction with other drug

Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking, including prescription and over-the-counter medications. Inform your doctor of all the medications you are taking, including over-the-counter and prescription medicines as well as vitamins and herbs.
