What is DexPak 6 Day Taperpak?

Dexamethasone is available in many different brands. This leaflet does not list all available brands. DexPak DayTaperpak 6 is an ephedrine that works to prevent the release of substances that can cause inflammation. DexPak DayTaperpak can be used for many conditions, including allergic disorders, skin disorders, and ulcerative colitis. It is also effective in treating arthritis, lupus, or psoriasis. DexPak 6-Day Taperpak can be used in other ways not mentioned in the medication guide.

Side effects of DexPak 6 Day Taperpak

Symptoms of allergies may include difficulty in breathing, hives or swelling in lips, face throat or tongue. If this is happening to you or if anyone in your household, seek medical assistance immediately as allergies could lead to serious consequences.

DexPak 6-Day Taperpak can cause severe side effects. If you experience:

  • Feeling of muscle weakness or tightness;
  • Blurred vision, pain in the eyes, or seeing halos around lights
  • Rapid weight gain, swelling, and shortness of breath even with light exertion;
  • Severe depression is characterized by unusual behavior or thoughts.
  • A seizure (convulsions);
  • Bloody or tarry stool, coughing blood
  • Fast or slow heart rate;
  • Pancreatitis is characterized by severe pain that spreads to the back and upper abdomen, as well as nausea and vomiting.
  • Low Potassium Level: leg cramps or constipation; irregular heartbeats or chest fluttering; an increase in thirst or urine; or feelings of numbness and tingling.
  • Increased blood pressure is accompanied by severe headaches, blurred or distorted vision, pain in the neck, ears, or head, and anxiety.

DexPak 6 DayTaperpak can affect growth in children. If your child's growth isn't normal while taking DexPak DayTaperpak, tell your doctor.

Some of the common side effects associated with DexPak 6-Day Taperpak include:

  • Fluid retention
  • Increased appetite
  • Mood changes, trouble sleeping;
  • Skin rash or bruising;
  • Acne, sweating, and hair growth
  • Headache, dizziness;
  • Nausea, vomiting, upset stomach;
  • Changes in menstrual cycles;
  • Changes in body fat distribution (especially on your legs, arms, chest, shoulders, breasts, and neck)

Warnings

This medicine should not be used if there is a fungus infection in any part of your body. Inform your doctor of all medical conditions and medications you use. Steroids can affect many diseases, while many medicines can also interact with them.

Before you take this drug

DexPak 6 Day Taperpak should not be used if:

  • A fungus infection can occur anywhere on your body.

If you've ever:

  • Liver disease (such as cirrhosis);
  • Kidney disease
  • A thyroid condition;
  • Malaria;
  • Tuberculosis;
  • Osteoporosis;
  • A muscle disorder, such as myasthenia gravis.
  • Diabetes (steroid medication may cause glucose to increase in the blood or urine).
  • Glaucoma and cataracts are both eye diseases.
  • Herpes in the eye
  • Diverticulitis and inflammatory bowel disease are all terms used to describe stomach ulcers.
  • Depression or mental illness
  • Congestive heart failure;
  • High blood pressure.

Your immune system is affected by steroids. Infections may be more common. You can make an existing infection worse or even reactivate it with steroids. Inform your doctor of any illnesses or infections you've had in the last few weeks. DexPak DayTaperpak is safe for pregnant women. Inform your doctor that you're pregnant. DexPak 6-Day Taperpak should not be used while breastfeeding.

How to take DexPak 6-Day Taperpak?

Follow all instructions or guides included with your medication exactly, even when your physician changes its dose. It is imperative that you adhere to their directions exactly, even when dosage modifications occur; dosing should occur exactly according to prescription. Your dosage needs may change due to surgery, illness, stress or medical emergencies - be sure to inform your physician of anything which might impede compliance with prescribed doses. Tell any doctor who treats you that you are using DexPak 6 DayTaperpak and provide any updates regarding this medication. You may experience unpleasant withdrawal symptoms if you suddenly stop taking DexPak 6 DayTaperpak. You should ask your doctor about how you can safely discontinue this medication. Wear or carry medical ID to alert others that you are using DexPak 6-DayTaperpak in an emergency. Stay clear of both heat and moisture at room temperature.

What happens if I miss the dose?

If you forget to take a DexPak DayTaperpak, call your doctor.

What happens if I overdose?

Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention. Overdoses of dexamethasone are unlikely to cause life-threatening symptoms. High doses of dexamethasone can cause thinning of the skin, easy bruises, and changes to body fat, especially in the face, neck, and back. They may also lead to increased facial hair or acne, as well as menstrual issues, impotence, or a loss of sexual interest.

What should be avoided?

Stay away from people with infections or illnesses. If you have been exposed to measles or chickenpox, call your doctor immediately for treatment. The conditions are serious and can even be fatal for people taking steroid medication. DexPak 6-Day Taperpak should not be taken with alcohol. Avoid receiving a live vaccine when using the DexPak DayTaperpak. This may cause the vaccine to not perform as well and not protect you fully from illness. The live vaccines are measles (MMR), rubella, polio (rotavirus), typhoid (yellow fever), varicella, chickenpox, and shingles.

Interaction with other drug

There can be risks involved when taking multiple medicines at once. Some medications can cause side effects that increase or decrease the effectiveness of another drug you are taking.

Inform your physician of all medications you are currently taking. DexPak DayTaperpak can be affected by many drugs, including:

  • Antibiotics or antifungal medicines;
  • Hormonal replacement therapy or birth control pills
  • You can take insulin and diabetes medication by mouth.
  • Medicine to treat Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease
  • A blood thinner—warfarin, Coumadin, or Jantoven
  • Nsaids are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications. These include aspirin (Advil), ibuprofen, naproxen, celecoxib (Aleve), diclofenac (Indomethacin), indomethacin (Indomethacin), meloxicam (Meloxicam), and many others.

DexPak DayTaperpak is affected by many drugs not listed here. These include prescription, over-the-counter, herbal, and vitamins. This list does not include all possible drug interactions.
