What is Deucravacitinib?

Deucravacitinib can be used for adults who have moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis. Deucravacitinib can be used in other ways not mentioned in the medication guide.

Side effects of Deucravacitinib

If you experience symptoms of allergy such as difficulty breathing, hives or swelling to your lips, face, throat or tongue; contact a healthcare provider as soon as possible to seek diagnosis and treatment options. Deucravacitinib may cause muscle breakdown, leading to renal failure. If you experience unexplained pain, tenderness, or weakness, call your doctor immediately. This is especially important if the symptoms are accompanied by fever, fatigue, dark urine, and/or unusual tiredness.

Call your doctor immediately if:

  • Signs of an infection include fever, chills, and muscle pain.

Some of the common side effects associated with deucravacitinib include:

  • Symptoms of a cold, including a stuffy nose and a sore throat
  • Cold sores sores around the mouth, gums, or tongue folliculitis: redness and crusting in your hair follicles.

There may be other side effects. Call your doctor if experiencing side effects; to report these reactions directly with FDA call 800-FDA-1088.

Warnings

Deucravacitinib can cause serious infections. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms: fever or chills; muscle pain or pain when urinating; stomach or diarrhea pains or burning sensations Deucravacitinib may cause muscle breakdown, leading to kidney failure. If you experience unexplained weakness, muscle tenderness, or pain, and you are also experiencing fever, fatigue, or dark urine, you should call your doctor immediately.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to deucravacitinib, then it is best not to use this drug.

If you've ever:

  • Liver or kidney disease
  • Hepatitis B, or C?
  • High levels of fat in the blood (triglycerides);
  • Any type of cancer
  • Tuberculosis have or been exposed to the disease;
  • If you are experiencing an infection that does not seem to go away or keeps coming back,
  • If you have an infection,
  • If you recently had a vaccination or have a scheduled one,
  • If you are overweight or over 50 or have a family history of coronary heart disease or high blood pressure,

Inform your doctor whether you are breastfeeding or pregnant.

How to take Deucravacitinib?

Review all instructions or guides included with your medication and follow them exactly. Follow the directions on your prescription label. Deucravacitinib can be taken with or without meals. Do not chew or crush the tablet. Deucravacitinib will require medical testing before and during treatment. At room temperature, avoid heat and moisture as much as possible.

Details on dosage

Usual Adult Dose for Plaque Psoriasis:
Orally, 6 mg once daily
Comments:
Limitations: It is not recommended to use this drug in conjunction with any other powerful immunosuppressants.
Prior to initiating treatment, it is important that patients be evaluated for active or latent tuberculosis.
The use of vaccines that are alive during treatment with this medication is not recommended.
Adult patients with severe plaque or psoriasis who do not respond to systemic treatment

What happens if I miss the dose?

If you are almost due for the next dose, skip the missed one. Never take more than one dose at a time.

What happens if I overdose?

Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention.

What should be avoided?

A "live" vaccination should be avoided. The live vaccines are measles (MMR), rubella, mumps (RRU), rotavirus (typhoid), yellow fever (YF), varicella (chickenpox), as well as zoster.

Interaction with other drug

Deucravacitinib can be affected by other drugs, such as prescription, over-the-counter, herbal, or other products. Inform your doctor of all the other medications you take.
